Freshly Made Sketches #351

Hey Everyone

Welcome to another Wednesday and another new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill.

Here’s the fabulous sketch Amy has designed:

I have used Amy’s sketch to add a card to my Christmas card collection.  The snowflakes I’ve used are from Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  I’ve used a combination of Whisper White and Mossy Meadow Cardstock for them.

The sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink and is from Blended Seasons Stamp Set.  The font on this sentiment is just gorgeous and is the perfect size for a single layered sentiment.  The background stamps are from Timeless Textures. I’ve stamped these in a combination of Sahara Sand for the watercolour look and Mossy Meadow for the ink splatters.

The designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Twinkle Twinkle DSP.  I love it when you can use papers from a pack that it isn’t typically designed for.  I’ve been using this pack for my baby cards, but I think the stars work well for Christmas too!

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created gorgeous cards that will inspire you. Head over to the challenge and take a look.  We would love it if you could play along with the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #421

Hey Everyone

Thank goodness it’s Friday! I get a whole weekend of craft room time – as soon as I get some cleaning done, that is…

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  We have a sketch for you to try this week and the sketch designer is me. I hope you like it and get a chance to play along!

By now you probably know I love all things floral.  I’ve even been asked if I’m a florist…. I wish I spent the time arranging flowers in a vase as I do when I create my cards.  My flowers are usually just shoved in a vase with no precision at all!

The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used on my card is Petal Palette.  The flowers are stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with my Rich Razzleberry Watercolor Pencil.  The leaves joined to the flowers are coloured with my Old Olive Waterolor Pencil and the large leaves are stamped in Old Olive Ink and fussy cut out.

For the background I used a mix of stamps from Timeless Textures.  These stamps are stamped in Early Espresso Ink. The sentiment I’ve used is from Dragonfly Dreams and is also stamped in Early Espresso Ink.

The woodgrain designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Wood Textures Designer Series Stack. I then scrunched up some Burlap Ribbon and layered it under the sentiment.

Freshly Made Sketches #345

Hey Everyone

Happy Wednesday everyone! Welcome to our newest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Jen Mitchell.

I am loving this sketch! Especially that tilted panel!

I chose the butterfly from Watercolor Wings to use on my main panel.  The butterfly is stamped in So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Basic Black and Crumb Cake Inks.  I then took my Black Journalling Pen and added some definition lines around the centre of the butterfly.  I had some leaves cut with my Seasonal Layers Dies Thinlits Dies sitting discarded on my desk, so I added them for extra layers.

I added some Gold Sequin Trim and some Black Cord under my sentiment.  For the background I stamped the watercolour type stamp in Soft Sea Foam. This stamp is from Love What You Do and it saves me time from having to watercolour the background myself – and I have to say it has a much better look than when I try it myself.

I then added the ink splatters from Timeless Textures in Basic Black Ink.  My “Happy Birthday” sentiment is Beautiful Bouquet and “to you” is from a set that I have just forgotten and couldn’t find in the limited time I had to write this post….

Come and join us for this challenge! The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created awesome inspiration for you. Head over to the challenge and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #356

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to :

I decided to go with two balloons and two circles.  The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I have used is Balloon Adventures. I’ve love a layered card and have gone to town with circles and a banner and on top of those, a sentiment in a banner.  My balloons are coloured lightly with Watercolor Pencils and I stamped the background with a smidge of dots from Timeless Textures.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and check them out. While you’re there, we would love you to play along.

Freshly Made Sketches #279

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday again! We have a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches and this week Rita Wright is our sketch hostess.  I love her cards and am always inspired with her creations.  If you haven’t visited her blog, then click here and check it out!

I have a niece who’s birthday is in a couple of weeks time.  She’s so lucky as she’s holidaying in America at the moment. The first part of her holiday was spent on a Disney Cruise and her request for her birthday was to spend it in New York.  One day I’ll get there myself……

I wanted to make a fun birthday card for her.  The balloons I’ve stamped are from Stampin’ Up!s Balloon Adventures.  I’ve stamped them in Melon Mambo and Pool Party.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Happy Celebrations. And because I’m a work in progress with a watercoloured background, I decided to use the watercolour type stamp from Timeless Textures.  I’ve stamped it Pool Party to just add a little bit of something behind the balloons.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #276

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess this week is the wonderfully talented Amy O’Neill.  Amy creates gorgeous cards and can combine colours like no other!

fms276sketch

I’ve chosen a hot air balloon as the focal point from Stampin’ Up!s Up and Away Thinlit dies. I chose a white balloon with black card stock underneath to make it stand out.  I then sponged a bit of Soft Sky on the background and stamped the water droplet type stamp from Timeless Textures for a bit of extra interest. I sponged a tinge of blue around my clouds so they weren’t as stark and so you could see the edges of the clouds.  My sentiment is from For You and is heat embossed on black card stock with white embossing powder.

Here’s my card:

Pals Paper Arts #319 & Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #425

Hey Everyone

I’m back with the second card I created today.  I’ve combined my card for two challenges – the colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the sketch challenge at Create with Connie & Mary Challenge.

This is such a pretty colour combination and one I haven’t used before.  I’ve lightly watercoloured the flower from Stampin’ Up!s Birthday Blooms after I embossed it with white embossing powder.  I’ve used the watercolour and droplet type stamps from Timeless Textures in the background.  Here’s what I came up with:

June Workshop

Hey Everyone

I usually only hold about 6 workshops a year.  Mainly because I work a 9-day fortnight and don’t get a lot of time to prepare for them when my weekends are generally full with boring grocery shopping and even more boring cleaning and laundry stuff.  I’m holding a class this weekend and thought I would share the cards that I have made.  You’ll notice I tried to simplify them.  Well, as simplified as I can get. I wanted to show the group that you don’t have to use a huge amount of designer series paper to get impact on your cards.  In fact, I’ve only used a smidge on each card.  I can see that Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper is going to be a favourite of mine.

My first card is using some new products from Stampin’ Up!s 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue.  I’ve used Swirly Scribbles Thinlits that match Swirly Bird stamp set.  I just love how easy these products are to use.  The colours I’ve used (and carried over to most of my other cards) are Basic Black, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.

These little scribbles dies are pretty versatile.  I decided to create a wreath with my next card and added some flowers stamped in Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum.  I then added a black banner sentiment from Time of Year.

For my third card, I wanted a quick and easy card in case we are running out of time.  Even though Picture Perfect was in a previous catalogue I didn’t actually purchase it until now.  I saw so many cards with this pretty flower on it and decided I needed it – as I often do.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And lastly, I thought we could finish off our day with a man card.  The starfish in Picture Perfect is perfect for a masculine card and although I was keeping to the theme of Flirty Flamingo or Sweet Sugarplum, I decided to leave those two colours off this card.  I stamped the watercolour-type stamp from Timeless Textures in Crumb Cake behind my starfish and added the wave-like die cut from Scribbles Thinlits.

A birthday card for my Mum

Hey Everyone

It’s my mums birthday today so I created the following card for her in a style I know she loves – vintagey.

I’ve signed up for a Tim Holtz online class that starts in a few weeks time.  I’ve previously signed up for two of his other classes and hadn’t watched a single video of his until yesterday, where I watched two.  I tried to bring in a couple of things I learnt from the two videos I watched for her card, but in the end I think I just went with what I knew anyway.  My mission will be to watch ALL of the videos in my next set of holidays.

Just Add Ink #313

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is to

Just Add B

So that means we want you to create something starting with the letter B on your project.  I decided to create a baby card and have used the following things starting with B  – bee, black DSP, button, bakers twine & I’ve created a baby card.  It’s loaded with B’s!  All of my DSP and bakers twine were hanging around in a basket of unused stuff on my desk. Love it when I can use up some of the leftovers from this basket.

Our team have created wonderful inspiration for you, so head over to Just Add Ink and check them out.  We would love it if you could come and join us with this fun challenge.
