A birthday card for my Mum

Hey Everyone

It’s my mums birthday today so I created the following card for her in a style I know she loves – vintagey.

I’ve signed up for a Tim Holtz online class that starts in a few weeks time.  I’ve previously signed up for two of his other classes and hadn’t watched a single video of his until yesterday, where I watched two.  I tried to bring in a couple of things I learnt from the two videos I watched for her card, but in the end I think I just went with what I knew anyway.  My mission will be to watch ALL of the videos in my next set of holidays.

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #381

Hey Everyone

Today I’m playing along with Create with Connie & Mary Challenge where they have given us the following sketch to create our cards.

CCMC381sketch

The card I’ve created is kinda vintage-y with not only the retired Stampin’ Up! products I’ve used but with the colours and the distressed edges I’ve given it.  The colours I’ve used are Crumb Cake, Basic Black & Very Vanilla.  I dragged out my crimper again just for a bit of texture to the background and found some long-ago retired Stampin’ Up! DSP called Love Letter DSP for the stars. I’ve stamped a Christmas greeting from a retired set called That’s the Ticket.  To finish it off I’ve added some sequins, button, linen thread and a bow. I can’t even remember the last time I tied a seam binding bow! I have used quite a few old school products here but I can’t go past them for that vintage-y feel.

The Card Concept #28

Hey Everyone

I’m back with my second post today – this time it’s for our new challenge at The Card Concept  Here’s our inspiration pic for you this week:

CC28pic

I’ve gone with rolled roses (haven’t done these in ages) as I wanted to duplicate the roses from the picture.  I’ve also added a woodgrain panel as I love the box the roses are presented in.  I have a basket sitting on my desk that I throw bits and pieces in that I have left over from other projects. I keep them there in case I might use them, but very rarely do.  I finally used some on this card. The stamped ticket, travel post sign, lace, leaves and burlap have all been recycled.  Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #247 – Just Add Love Blog Hop

Hey Everyone Welcome to Just Add Ink’s first challenge for 2015.  We’re starting off our year with a blog hop.  Our challenge for you is to create a tag OR a card with a tag with a love theme using the following sketch. You may have just hopped over from the amazingly creative Nikki Spencer’s blog – didn’t you just love what she created? JAI247pic I decided to vintage it up a bit with my card.  The sketch is in there, but I’ve added a few extra shapes (hope you can see the original design!).  I started off sticking with the sketch but I just kept adding. I walked past a men’s suit shop earlier this week and saw a suit in the window with the colour combo of Black, Grey & Yellow.  It really appealed to me so I’ve made them the main colours in my card.  Here’s what I created. JAI247Next stop along the way is the very talented and very sweet Louise Sharp. You’re going to love what she’s created! Just Add Ink 2013 A Year in Review

Hey Everyone

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and fabulous New Year.   I know I ate too much and have so far been too busy to exercise, but I will get back to the gym – one day….

The Design Team at Just Add Add are sharing our favourite projects from 2013 and we’d love to see yours too.  I’ve chosen a tag as my favourite project from last year.  I love creating tags and found Christine’s Woodgrain challenge gave me the chance to create one of my most favourite tags.  I love the little bees I added as I think it really finished off the woodsy scene I was trying to create.

Just Add Ink #191

Hey Everyone

Delys has a wonderful sketch for us to create our projects this week at Just Add Ink – I love the circles in this sketch and knew that I wanted to go a little bit shabby for my card.

JAI191sketch

In an effort to use up my loads of DSP, I found I haven’t used Etcetera in ages and I haven’t combined these lovely papers before.  I think the blue in the houndstooth and also in the background DSP is Soft Sky (you would think that as a SU demo I should know this, but I have a shocking memory and I’m too lazy and go and find my catalogue to check!).  Anyway, that’s the colour that I’ve stamped my tickets from Stampin’ Up!s That’s the Ticket.  I’ve left this card sentimentless as sometimes I like to have a blank card in my stash for any occasion.

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #255 & Dynamic Duos Challenge #56

Hey Everyone

It’s Sunday night here in Australia and we have a public holiday tomorrow – yippee, another day that I can play in my craft room! I got a chance today for a quick play and created the following card for this weeks Create with Connie & Mary sketch challenge.

CCMC255sketch

I’ve combined the sketch challenge with a the pretty colour challenge at Dynamic Duos. I was taken with the designer series paper that Janet from the Design Team used, so I’ve gone with similar papers.

I’ve just realised I’ve gone with another rolled rose card – I seem to be on a roll with them again! Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink Challenge #165

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  Christine is this weeks hostess and she’s given us the challenge to:

Just Add Woodgrain

I’ve never been a big woodgrain user on my projects and I’m pretty sure I’ve never used my woodgrain embossing folder at all.  I started out with a card for this challenge, then another card and then finally ended up with a vintage tag.  I will be so sad when my most favourite Stampin’ Up! stamp set – French Foliage – retires, but I’m sure I’ll still be using it on some challenges.  Because I use a lot of butterflies, for something different this time, I decided to add some cute little bees from Nature Walk

Head over to Just Add Ink and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Design Team. We’d love for you to join us, so why don’t you create a woodgrain project and link it up?

Merry Monday Challenge #51

Hey Everyone

Lesley has a fun challenge for you over at Merry Monday this week! It’s Tic, Tac, Toe week again! Our challenge is to choose any three tiles in a row and create a Christmas card.

MMC51pic

I’ve gone with the three tiles across the top of the grid – Red, Dry Embossing and Ribbon. Before I ran my cardstock through the big shot I swiped my Cherry Cobbler Ink pad over the embossing folder to give the cardstock both texture and colour at the same time.  Because I didn’t cover the entire folder with ink, it gave the cardstock a bit of a vintagey background – I quite like this look and think it really ties in with my vintage postcard theme.

Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us this week – head over to Lesley’s blog and join in our Christmas card fun. You can click on each of the Merry Makers names below to check out their gorgeous cards.

Mojo Monday #279 & Just Add Ink #152

Hey Everyone

I’ve been a bit busy this weekend so I haven’t had much of a chance to get into my craft room.  After catching up on some design team duties, I finally got a chance to enter this weeks Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

Mojo279Sketch

I’m not a big user of hearts on my cards so I wussed out entering a card with the Just Add Ink design team when our challenge went up on Friday, but it got the better of me and I decided to give our hearts challenge a go.

Here’s my card:
