Just Add Ink #248

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a colour challenge at Just Add Ink.  Take a look at the colour combo we have for you:

JAI248pic

I think I’m working out how to combine more than two colours a little more comfortably these days.  I find the best way for me is to start with a white background and then play with the colours until I manage to fit them all in.  One of the things I realised after helping my mum recently with her market is that I don’t have a huge supply of masculine cards.  I create the occasional one here and there but I need to make more of an effort to get her a supply of them.  If only I could repeat a card…. I could create 5 of the same card and have about 5 different designs for her.  It would make sense to do this while I have all the products out, but for some reason I just don’t do it.

ColourQ #275 & Pals Paper Arts #236

Hey Everyone

I had a fabulous day on the weekend helping my mum with her market.  If it wasn’t for her and her stall, all of my cards would sit in my craft room probably getting ruined as I just dump them in a box after I take a photo of them.  I had a couple of requests for kids cards and realised I had none to sell.  I looked around for a challenge to rectify my lack of kids card and found I could combine my card for the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the colour challenge at colourQ.

Just Add Ink #235

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday (yay!) so that means we have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink. This week Kim has given us the following colour challenge.

JAI235pic

I’m not much of a combiner of more than two colours when it comes to my cards.  I’m at home with more of a monochromatic colour scheme.  That’s why challenges are good for me, they take me out of my comfort zone.  Here’s what I came up with:

Just Add Ink #231

Hey Everyone

Mae has put together a lovely colour combo for this weeks challenge at Just Add Ink. Take a look:

JAI231pic

This card started out completely different from how it ended. Sometimes when I get stuck I find it best to walk away for a little while and when I come back, new ideas come to me and things just fall into place.  I wouldn’t have thought these colours would work for Christmas, but I have to say I really like this card.  I’ve used some new Stampin’ Up goodies for my card – Festival of Trees stamp set and matching punch.  I’m also loving this sentiment from Bright and Beautiful.  I stamped Gorgeous Grunge splatters in the background in Crushed Curry ink and added some washi that I stamped from Tape It in Basic Black and Crushed Curry ink.

We’d love for you to join us Just Add Ink this week.  The design team have created fabulous inspiration for you – head over to the challenge and check them out.

Cardabilities #104 & colourQ #252

Hey Everyone

I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend – I know I am!  It’s challenge time! The challenges I’m entering my card into today are the sketch challenge at Cardabilities and the colour challenge at colourQ.

I was so tempted to go Christmas with my card but I resisted as I’m not quite in the mode of Christmas card making yet.  Instead I’ve gone with a shabby flowery card.  The Stampin’ Up! stamp sets I’ve used are Dictionary, Everything Eleanor, Summer Silhouettes, Itty Bitty Banners, Gorgeous Grunge & Tape It.  Here’s my card:

Cardabilities #100 & Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge #82

Hey Everyone

My mum had a birthday on the weekend so to get me inspired to create her card I used the layout from the sketch at Cardabilities and combined it with the colour challenge at Inspired by Stamping.  Here are their inspiration pics:

The flap at the top of the sketch gave me the idea to create a pocket so I could stash some money in there as part of her present (just in case she wanted to buy some Stampin’ Up! products!). The flowers I’ve used are from Everything Eleanor and the leaves are from Summer Silhouettes.  I’ve added a bit of washi from Stampin’ Up!s Tape It and the sentiment is from Express Yourself.  The honeycomb background is something I learnt how to create at convention.  Something I’ve never done before is ink up an embossing folder and used it as a stamp.  I love this effect so I know I’ll be doing it again.

Merry Monday Challenge #107

Hey Everyone

I recently decided that I needed to make a start on my Christmas card stash.  The Christmas Card Challenge I love to play along with is Merry Monday.  I was thrilled that I won the challenge with this card and then I was asked by the Design Team to Guest Design this week.  Here’s their sketch:

MMC107pic

I just love this Santa’s face from Stampin’ Up!s Santa’s List – I think he works really well with the sketch.  As you can probably tell I’m addicted to Fresh Prints Designer Series Stack and love that these non-traditional Christmas papers work for a Christmas card too! A bit of faux washi, a mini clip and a sentiment from More Merry Messages and my card was done.  Here’s what I came up with:

The Design Team is sure to wow you with their cards – head over to Merry Monday and check them out. Hopefully you can win a challenge like me and have the opportunity to play along with this fabulous team.  Thanks for the opportunity ladies!

colourQ #237 & The Paper Players #192

Hey Everyone

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Easter and not overindulged on chockies.  I’m pretty proud of myself as I’ve just had my first one and it’s Easter Monday here in Australia – I don’t even think I’ll need to eat anymore.  The challenges I’m entering today are colourQ Challenge and The Paper Players.  Here are their inspiration pics:

It was a quick card for me for once as I was trying really hard for a clean and simple style. The Stampin’ Up! stamp sets I’ve used are Flower Shop, Petite Petals, Summer Silhouettes and Tape It.  As I’m just looking at my card I’m seeing a bluey tinge in the background, but my card base is definitely Whisper White – not sure what happened with my photo.

Mojo Monday#341 & Inspired by Stamping #81

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card and this one I’m sharing is for two challenges – the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday and the colour challenge at Inspired by Stamping.  Here are their inspiration pics:

It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve used Early Espresso.  It was once my go-to colour but Sahara Sand has taken over that role now.  I love this new little matching flower stamp set and punch from Stampin’ Up! called Petite Petals – it takes no time at all to whip up a card.

Retro Sketches #109

Hey Everyone

Have you noticed I’ve been a tad quiet on here lately?  I’m on a family holiday at the moment and I’ve been trying to find the time to take a photo of my cards – I’m really missing my light tent which is showing in my photos.  The card I’m sharing today is for Retro Sketches – take a look at their fabulous sketch.

RS109sketch

My mum has been asking me to show her how I made Ranunculas (not sure if what I make is that close to the real ones, but I think it’s close enough).  When I saw Retro Sketches sketch I thought it would be perfect to show them off.  Here’s my card (‘cuse the photo!)
