Freshly Made Sketches #83

Hey Everyone

This week our Freshly Made Sketches hostess is Allisa and she has created this fabulous sketch (this one’s a keeper for sure Allisa!) :

At Freshly Made Sketches this week we are giving a birthday shout out to one of my fellow Merry Monday Design Team members Vicki Burdick! It’s her birthday today so we’ve created birthday cards for Vicki for her special day.  Lesley has organised a linky party on her blog so you can add your birthday wishes to her blog as a surprise for Vicki.  If you haven’t been over to Vicki’s blog, head over and check out her gorgeously layered beauties! She creates such amazing cards – I’m a huge fan and have stalked her blog for over a year now.

Happy Birthday Vicki!

I designed my card around the designer series paper in the background which is from a retired Stampin’ Up! pack called Pocketful of Posies.  I have to admit that even though I’ve had this pack for ages, I’d never noticed this pretty striped paper before.  I think the main colour is Pale Plum, a retired Stampin’ Up! colour, that I’ve teamed with Perfect Plum. When it was time to choose a stamp set, I channeled Vicki and used Stippled Blossoms, a stamp set I know she uses and one of my favourite flower stamp sets. I got my fingers inky and dyed some Very Vanilla Seam Binding with Perfect Plum ink – it was only after I finished did I accidentally come across some Perfect Plum taffeta ribbon that I didn’t even know I had!

Pals Paper Arts #155 & Stampin’ Royalty #168

Hey Everyone

Pals Paper Arts have a fabulous sketch for us that was designed by their Sketch Queen Margaret Moody. This sketch caters to my over-layered style of cardmaking – I think Margaret may’ve designed it just for me! 🙂

The design team at Stampin’ Royalty have the following inspiration pic for this weeks challenge.  I just love these soft pretty colours together and couldn’t wait to play along.

I ummed and ahhed about having two flowers on my card. I wasn’t sure if they looked too busy, but in the end I decided that with this much layers on my card, what would it hurt if I had one too many flowers on there!  Here’s my card:

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #240

Hey Everyone

This weeks Create with Connie & Mary Challenge is a colour challenge.  Here are colours we used to make our cards:

CCMC240pic

I had a couple of goes at making a card for this challenge and it was only when I reduced the amount of Melon Mambo I was using, could I make it work.  It’s only just on there too. Can you see it in the two-step stamping of the Stippled Blossom flower? In the end I was pretty happy with my card, but boy this colour challenge challenged me!

Stampin’ Royalty Challenge #156

Hey Everyone

I was up bright and early this morning (not sure why when it’s the weekend) so I headed out to my room to create a card for this weeks Stampin’ Royalty Sketch Challenge.  I love this sketch and I know I’ll be using it again.

SR156sketch

I’ve teamed old with new again on this card.  The new being Midnight Muse – I think Midnight Muse has made me a lover of blues. The old being Bella Bleu – a retired Stampin’ Up! designer series paper from a few years ago. I hadn’t used Stippled Blossoms for a little while so I inked it up with Brocade Blue (which had never been opened! shocking I know) and stamped over the top of it with Midnight Muse.  I found I really liked these colours together.  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #64

Hey Everyone

Don’t you love a sketch challenge? Cindy has given us this fabulous sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches this week:

FMS64sketch

I’ve gone old-school with my designer series paper today.  One of my favourite DSP packs when I first joined Stampin’ Up! was Cottage Wall.  I think I brought 3 packs which was a pretty big deal for me as I wasn’t doing any workshops back then.  I must’ve been generating all my cards for my family and friends with the same look! Here’s what I came up with for Cindy’s sketch:

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #225

Hey Everyone

The design team at Create with Connie & Mary have come up with this interesting but fabulous sketch this week:

I initially started out with three circles on my card but couldn’t work out what image I wanted to stamp on them, so I changed it up and have gone with flowers instead. The spray of flowers isn’t exactly as precise as the three shapes above, but you can kind of see where I was going with it.  Again I’ve use this bold black striped paper from Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP – I love the drama of it!

Thanks for stopping by.

Dynamic Duos #26 & The Sweet Stop Sketch #182

Happy Sunday Everyone

There’s a monochromatic colour challenge over at Dynamic Duos this week.  I love monochromatic tones but I paused when I saw it was So Saffron and More Mustard – probably not the monochromatic colours I had in mind!  I guess that’s why challenges are good for me – to test me with colours outside of my comfort zone.

I’ve based my card on this weeks Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge. I’ve deviated a little from their sketch by moving my bow to the bottom of the card and my sentiment sideways a bit. Here’s their fabulous sketch:

Here’s my card:

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #56

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday, so that means there’s a new sketch over Freshly Made Sketches.  Rita is this weeks hostess and she has come up with this fabulous sketch.

Freshly Made Sketches is a great challenge for me as it makes me create a cleaner style of card than I usually make. I absolutely love Spice Cake DSP but didn’t think ahead and buy more before it retired 😦  I’ve teamed it with a strip of Festival of Prints DSP – I really love Early Espresso and Pool Party together.  I stopped my self-impossed ban on Stippled Blossoms (felt I was over-using it!) and have used this for my card today.

Here’s what I came up with:

We’d love to see you join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches – head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous cards the design team have created. Thanks for stopping by.

Create with Connie & Mary #217 & Pals Paper Arts #142

Hey Everyone

I’ve combined this next card for two challenges – the sketch challenge from Create with Connie & Mary and the colour challenge from Pals Paper Arts.

I pulled out one of my new favourite stamp sets – Stippled Blossoms – for this card and stamped the flower in Pumpkin Pie and Elegant Eggplant.  The leaves were stamped with Lucky Limeade, cut out and raised up.  I went digging for this retired Elegant Eggplant grosgrain ribbon and ended up finding almost two full rolls hidden away!  I better try and use them up in some upcoming challenges. Here’s my card:

The Paper Players Challenge #108 & Freshly Made Sketches #48

Hey Everyone

What a great colour combination Ann from the The Paper Players has given us this week:

I’ve combined these fabulous colours with Tui’s really cool sketch at Freshly Made Sketches:

Initially I was going to use these colours for a man card, but I thought that would be too predictable of me – so I’ve gone for a flowery feminine card instead (although that is probably predictable of me too!) :

Thanks for stopping by.
