The Challenge #28

Hey Everyone

This is a special post as The Challenge is turning one!  Happy Anniversary Lesley! As this is their 1st Anniversary Lesley’s friend Wendy Ramlakhan, the owner of SugarPea Designs, has generously offered a SPD Gift Certificate for one lucky participant. It will be one random winner…the more times you play, the better your odds.

The theme for this weeks challenge is Anything Goes.  You will need to create a new project for this challenge and make sure you don’t enter your project in more than 5 challenges (including this challenge).

Anything Goes Challenge-March 30th SPD-Blog-Badge---Large

I seem to be on a roll with masculine cards. The more I make them, the more I feel comfortable creating them!  I really am loving creating grungy backgrounds and am looking forward to tomorrow as I am having a crafting day with my mum tomorrow to show her how I create them. It’s not often we can get together as we live an hour away, but we are currently on a holiday together and I’ve managed to bring along about a third of my craft room.

We would love for you to join us with this weeks Anything Goes Anniversary Challenge – so head over to The Challenge and link up a card. While you’re there, take a look at the fabulous inspiration from the Design Team.

I’ve loved being a Guest Designer with The Challenge for the month of March – thanks so much Lesley for asking me to play along!

Freshly Made Sketches #133

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s come around sooooo quickly! Before we know it, we’ll be preparing for Christmas again!  Cindy Lovell is our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week – here’s the fabulous sketch she’s created:

FMS133sketch

It was time for me to make another man card and Cindy’s sketch ended up being perfect for me to use my retired Stampin’ Up! set called Sail Away.  I’ve also used some stamps from Open Sea to complete the whole nautical scene.

We’d love for you to join us this week – head over to Freshly Made Sketches and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Clean Team.

Just Add Ink #173

Hey Everyone

Christine Blain suggested this weeks theme at Just Add Ink.  Our challenge for you is to:

Just Add…….Water

Some of my more observant (way more observant than me!) JAI Design Team members noticed that the bottles of water in the apartments where we stayed for our recent Stampin’ Up! South Pacific Convention had the following label on their bottles.

JAI173pic

Did you see the words under the photo of the pool?  Just Add Water!  This bottle was made for us!

So when I think of water, I automatically think of a boat stamp. Not very original, but I had a purpose in mind for my project.  My Dad had a birthday last week, and in addition to giving him some cash, I covered and decorated him a block of white chocolate.  My dad LOVES white chocolate and I’m pretty sure I give him a block every birthday, but I know it will be eaten.  This chocolate cover was made to match the birthday card I made my Dad – click here if you’d like to check it out.

Stampin’ Royalty #181 & Deconstructed Sketch #106

Hey Everyone

I’m back for the third time today! I’ve been having a wonderful play in my craft room.

The design team at Stampin’ Royalty have an inspiration picture challenge this week that I found would work well for a masculine card.

SR181pic

I’ve combined the colours from the inspiration pic with this weeks sketch challenge at The Deconstructed Sketch.  Here’s Jen’s fabulous sketch:

DS106sketch

I’ve left the bow off from Jen’s sketch but have replaced it with a starfish that I moved slightly to the left.  Because the inspiration pic was very nautical, I’ve used Stampin’ Up!s Sail Away stamp set again.  You may not recognise a couple of the DSPs I’ve used.  I’m pretty happy with myself as I printed them off MDS.  The stripey one in the background is from a designer kit called Number One.  I’ve got no idea what the name of the burlap looking one is as when I went back to find the name of it, I couldn’t find it!  Oh well, it was one that was pre-loaded on MDS when I brought it. I was really chuffed with how they printed and know that if I have more time to look around MDS, I’ll be using it more often. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #90

Hey Everyone

The very talented Linda Callahan is this weeks sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches. If you haven’t checked out her blog, then I really urge you to head over there and admire her gorgeous creations.

FMS90sketch

I’ve gone with another masculine to try and replenish my stash.  I dipped into my dwindling supply of Jumbo Eyelets to use on this card, but I love the effect of them with Hemp Twine. I was extremely sad when both the Eyelets and Hemp Twine retired.

Just Add Ink #109

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week the challenge is to Just Add…A Beach theme where we create a project using images of shells, fish, beach, boats etc.  The only beachy type stamp sets I have are my boat sets so I have used both of them – Sail Away and Open Sea. As the last few cards I’ve made using these sets have been made using blue, I decided to change it up and use Always Artichoke with Early Espresso for my man card.

Here’s what I came up with:

Thanks for stopping by and if you have time, pop over to the challenge and join in!

Products Used:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke DSP, Early Espresso DSP, Always Artichoke
Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Crumb Cake Marker
Stamp Sets: Open Sea, Sail Away, Occasional Quotes
Other Products: Hemp Twine, Jumbo Eyelets (retired), Circle Scissor, Word Window, Eyelet, Spritzer Tool

Just Add Ink #106

Hey Everyone

About a month ago I said I was going to try and make a monthly “man card” to have a few up my sleeve.  Also I wanted to try and test myself as I don’t make alot of them – mainly because I can’t tizz them up by adding ribbon or pearls!  The sketch at Just Add Ink this week appealed to me for a man card as I was able to add my favourite masculine stamp – Sail Away – to the design.

Here’s my card:

Because of the whole nautical scene I wanted to do something different with the hemp twine.  I you-tubed how to tie a sailors knot to make it look more authentic. Here’s a close up of my knots (I’m pretty proud of myself that I was able to tie them!)

Click here to take you to the Just Add Ink Challenge blog and check out what the talented designers have created and join in the fun.

Thanks for stopping by.

Products Used:
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand DSP, Sahara Sand, First Edition DSP
Ink: Night of Navy, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: Open Sea, Sail Away, French Foliage, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Other Products: Hemp Twine, Circle Scissor, Brads, Distressing Tool
