Global Design Project #260 & TGIF Challenge #283

Hey Everyone

Best part about being on holidays is, not only do I get to sleep in, I get to craft when I want!  The card I’m sharing today is for two challenges – this weeks CASE the Designer at  Global Design Project Challenge and Designer Take Over Challenge at TGIF Challenge.

The great thing about challenges is that they get you to create out of your comfort zone.  Ink blending used to scare me and I wouldn’t even bother trying it in case I messed it up. I told myself who cares if I messed it up, I could always bin it.

I have never tried blending the colours I’ve used on my card until today as I didn’t think I was much of an orange person. I think I might just be an orange lover now! The colours I’ve blended are Petal Pink, Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pie.

The peonies I’ve added to my card are from the Prized Peony Stamp Set. These peonies have been stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with a combination of Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze Blends.  The leaves I’ve layered on my card are stamped from the Forever Fern Stamp Set – these have been stamped with Pool Party Ink.

For the base of my card I added a rectangle of Sahara Sand Cardstock that has been embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.  The Whisper White Cardstock panel under my flowers are leaves, has been punched with the Rectangular Postage Punch.  I’ve actually punched two of them to create a longer rectangle and hidden the join under the peonies. The fussy cut sentiment is from the matching stamp to the punch called Postage For You Stamp Set.

Three Champagne Basic Rhinestone Jewels were added to finish off my card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #449

Hey Everyone

Welcome to Wednesday and the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by the fabulous Cecile Ribon! I love Cecile’s sketches as they are always so interesting and really test me.

The Prized Peony Stamp Set came to mind when I saw her sketch. I’ve paired my peony image with a piece of DSP the matching Peony Garden Designer Series Paper pack.  I cut a piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock into the same triangle shape so that I had two triangles. You may notice I don’t have a third triangle. This was because whichever colour I tried to add didn’t quite fit with me, so I added stamping to mimic the third triangle.  This background stamping was done with the geometric background stamp found in the Prized Peony Stamp Set and Gray Granite Ink.

The flower that I have created, has been coloured with my Pool Party Blends.  I then took the Light Bermuda Bay and Dark Smoky Slate Blends and added colour to the crease lines to create depth to the flower.  The centre of the flower has been given a quick colour with the Dark So Saffron Blend.

The leaves that I have added to my card were discarded from another project. I’ve had them sitting on my desk for a few weeks and rather than throw them out, I’ve given them a home on my card.  These leaves were created by taking some Pool Party Ink with my Aqua Painter and adding it to some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Once the paper dried, I took the leaf die from the Forever Flourishing Dies and cut out two leaves.

As always, the girls at Freshly Made Sketches have created the most awesome cards. To be inspired by their awesomeness, head over to the blog and check out their cards.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #445

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! This weeks sketch has been designed the uber talented Jen Mitchell.

The Prized Peony Stamp Set was a set that I knew I had to have from the  ecently released Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue! I stamped the peony image in Black Memento Ink and gave it colour with my Pool Party and Bermuda Bay Blends. The centre of the flower has been coloured with the Light So Saffron Blend. I fussy cut the image out and added some Whisper White Cardstock leaves cut with my Forever Flourishing Dies.  I added designer series paper from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper pack as well as a strip of Pool Party Cardstock.  Three Elegant Faceted Gems were added for the glitter this card needed.

The team have created wonderful cards with the sketch.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers
