Freshly Made Sketches #447

Hey Everyone

Happy Wednesday to you all!  There’s a new sketch for you to play along with at Freshly Made Sketches. Our sketch has been designed by the super talented Kim Singdahlsen.

To start my card, I chose the designer series paper first.  The pack that my piece is from is called Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper. I liked this woodgrain DSP because the grain reminded me of the stripes on the sketch.  The woodgrain on this paper is actually straight, so I cut it on the angle so that it tilted downwards.

From there, I chose my stamp set next. I chose the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set (just realised I used this stamp set last week too…that’s how much I love it!) for my card.  I like a really fine edge around my images, so the flowers and the leaves have been fussy cut.  When it came time for the little berry branch image, I found there is a die to cut these images out in the Poinsettia Dies, so I whipped them through my cutting machine.

I then chose colours. Instead of red poinsettias, I went for Crumb Cake ones. The centre of the poinsettias were coloured with my Dark Mango Melody Blend and the leaves have been coloured with Old Olive Blends. The little berry images have been stamped in Black Memento Ink and the centre of them stamped with Soft Suede Ink with the two-step stamping image. Not traditional colours I know, but I liked the earthy look of them.

To finish of the card, I added a sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set and added some Linen Thread that I looped under the sentiment and adhered the ends to the card. I was thinking that even if I didn’t love the poinsettia’s like I do, I probably would’ve purchased this stamp set anyway just for the sentiments! I really love this font and the size of this sentiment.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using the sketch. Click here to take you to blog to see what they’ve created.

Freshly Made Sketches #446

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Linda Callahan.  She has created an awesome slimline sketch that she has left clean for us to choose our own layout.

I love the idea of this style of card! After I got my head around inches, I came up with the following card:

I chose one of my new Stampin’ Up! Stamp Sets called Poinsettia Petals to colours with various blends. This stamp set and all it’s coordinating products are available to order from the August-December Mini Catalogue on 3rd August. I also cut poinsettia flowers and leaves with the matching Poinsettia Dies. The sentiment I’ve added to my card is also from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set – don’t you just love a pretty font like this one?

In the background I’ve added a piece of Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.  The papers in this pack are gorgeous and have a felt feel to the raised patterns. I think they really add elegance to any card!  More pretties from this suite, are the Beaded Pearls that I’ve adhered to the centre of the flowers. Another elegant touch without me doing very much at all.

The team have created awesome cards with this weeks challenge. Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they girls have created!

Thanks for stopping by.
