Freshly Made Sketches #218

Hey Everyone

There hasn’t been much action from me of late.  I’ve been having a bit of a holiday from my craft room.  There are two reasons for this.  One – because it’s a total mess still from before Christmas and two – because I’ve been catching up on TV series.  After a quick clean up yesterday I managed to make my card for our first challenge for 2016 at Freshly Made Sketches:

FMS218sketch

This sketch is totally fabulous and is designed by the talented Kim Singdahlsen.  It was hard for me initially to create something other than a Christmas card.  I’m still waiting on my newest Stampin’ Up! order – I was a bit slack in putting in an order.  I can’t wait to get some new goodies to get me going again.

Just Add Ink #290

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink today.  Our pretty colour challenge has been suggested by Chantell. I can’t wait to see what you create with this combo.

JAI290pic

Whenever I need to combine more than a couple of colours, I’ve found the easiest way is to start with a white background.  I managed to squeeze the majority of the challenge colours on to my card by stamping stripes from Stampin’ Up!s Work of Art set.  I then only had to add some flowers and the final challenge colour, green, for my leaves.  I have used a black sentiment (not a challenge colour) but a black sentiment stood out better.

Here’s my card:

Mojo Monday #400

Hey Everyone

It’s not like me to be able to play along with challenges on a Monday but it’s a holiday here in Melbourne and I have some free time.  After a quick look around at the challenges I found that Mojo Monday is having a design team search for their 400th challenge.  Thought I’d play along as theirs was one of the first challenges I came across and it pretty much inspired me to get myself a blog.

For this special challenge Julee has gone back to where it all started, and for inspiration, we get to play along with her very first sketch:

Cardabilities #88 & Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge #88

Hey Everyone

Instead of doing a bit of Christmas shopping today – I made a couple of cards….. My excuse for not going shopping is that the shops are too busy at the moment (although how would I know if I haven’t been shopping once yet?).  I will make the effort and go sometime during the week.

This card I’ve made is for two challenges – Cardabilities Sketch Challenge and Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge.  Here are their inspiration pics:

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #307 & The Shabby Tea Room #222

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a great day of play in my craft room today making some cards for my design teams as well as two cards for challenges.  Don’t you love it when you have one of these days?  The first card I’m sharing is for two challenges – Create with Connie & Mary Challenge and The Shabby Tea Room.  Here are their inspiration pics:

This sketch is totally fabulous and when I saw the soft colours at The Shabby Tea Room, I knew they would be combine perfectly.  The designer series paper I’ve used is from a Stampin’ Up! pack called Afternoon Picnic.  You’ve probably noticed I like to combine my stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! – this time I’ve used: Petite Petals, Papaya Collage, Simply Sketched and Flower Shop.  Here’s my card:

Create with Connie & Mary #306

Hey Everyone

The challenge at Create with Connie & Mary this week is a colour challenge.  Colour challenges always test me as I tend to overthink them.  I didn’t give myself a chance to overthink it as I was running out of time today and my card just fell together.  I might have to do that more often!

CCMC306pic

I’m trying out my clean and simple again.  The background dots and leaves are from my new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Kinda Eclectic and the banners are from Amazing Birthday – both of which I received at Convention.  The flowers are from Petite Petals and my sentiment is from Petite Pairs.  Here’s what I came up with:

Freshly Made Sketches #138

Hey Everyone

This weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to us our very own talented Artisan Design Team Member Jennifer Timko!  So many possibilities with this sketch.

FMS138sketch

One of the perks of attending Stampin’ Up!s South Pacific Convention is that we receive stamp sets from the upcoming catalogue before it goes live in July.  I have to tell you that I was over the moon when I saw that one of them was Kinda Eclectic – it’s another leaf stamp for me!  I’ve also tried stamping the sunburst from this stamp set behind the leaves (which is kind of like a make and take we made at Convention). The flowers are from Petite Petals and the sentiment is from Simply Sketched.

2014 South Pacific Stampin’ Up! Annual Convention Swap

Hey Everyone

One of the things I forgot to do before I went to Convention was schedule my post for my Convention Swap.  So every year I say I’m going to plan ahead and makes swaps and every year I run out of time.  All I managed to get done was 10 swaps finished for my fabulous friends from the Just Add Ink Design Team.  I’ve been home from Convention for about 9hrs now and have barely made it off the couch.  We’ve had the best time, but I’m completely buggered – I think it’s going to be an early night for me.

Anyway – here’s my swap.

Just Add Ink #215

Hey Everyone

We have a fabulous colour challenge at Just Add Ink this week courtesy of Mae.

JAI215pic1Every time I tried to photograph my card it looked wonky – I think my tilted panel was making my view skewed.  I’ve gone for a cleaner style of card with more of a white background than I usually go for.  Not sure if you’d call this style clean and simple, but that was what I was trying to achieve.

The Design Team have created gorgeous cards this week – head over to the blog and check out their creations.  While you’re there why don’t you join us with this fun colour challenge at Just Add Ink.

Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing is a card I made for my Mum for Mother’s Day – as Mother’s Day was yesterday in Australia, it’s now safe to post my card.  Cards are getting so hard to make for my Mum these days as she’s a card maker too and I want to try and impress her.  She sent me a text last week to ask if I’d made her card yet and as she sees all of my posts, I couldn’t try and fob off an old one on her – oh, and she also said there was no pressure at all!  (I knew she was just kidding, but I still put pressure on myself!) Because I needed a little help I’ve used the layout from this weeks great Viva La Verve Sketch.

VLVMay2sketch

I’ve moved my flowers a tad from the sketch, but they’re there and I’ve also moved my bow  a little to the left as that was where it worked best for my card.  I was really pleased with my card and I was also pleased to know that she loved it.
