Just Add Ink #260

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week I’ve designed the following sketch for you.

JAI260sketch

Not sure how it happens, but when it’s my turn to create a sketch or colour combo I always stumble when it comes time to put my cards together.  I tend to overthink things. Because I’ve been so focussed on swaps and gifts for Stampin’ Up!s Annual South Pacific Convention that I will be attending next week, I fell back on a safe colour combo – Black and White with pop of colour card – it’s what I always do when I’m in doubt. Here’s what I created:

We would love you to join in with this sketch challenge and because a lot of the team will be attending Convention, we will be leaving this challenge open for 2 weeks.  Head over to Just Add Ink and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #252

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means we have a new challenge for you Just Add Ink.  This week Kim has created this fabulous sketch for us.  I really enjoy sketch challenges and I have to say I don’t even mind a tilted panel!

JAI252sketch

When I saw this sketch a man card came instantly to mind – not sure why, but it did.  I really am trying to challenge myself to make masculine cards as I don’t tend to make a lot of them.  Feminine ones are so much easier. I like a lot of details on my cards and I find I can add lots of details with a nautical themed card – here’s what I came up with:

Mojo Monday #379 & Stampin’ Royalty #260

Hey Everyone

Gee it’s been ages since been on here.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  I’ve been so busy with the festive season and work that I haven’t even been out to my craft room for 3 weeks! I was way overdue to play along with some challenges so I finally found “my time” today for some card fun.  The challenges I’m entering are – Mojo Monday and Stampin’ Royalty. Here are their inspiration pics.

Freshly Made Sketches #167

Hey Everyone

It’s my turn to host this weeks sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  My fellow designers at Freshly Made Sketches may say differently but I did try and keep my layers to a minimum (for me).  Look there’s really only three shapes!

FMS167sketch

I tried a new colour combo for Christmas – Basic Black, Blackberry Bliss & Blushing Bride.  I’ve substituted my circle with the wreath from Wondrous Wreath. My sentiment is from Petite Pairs and I’ve finished off my card with a bow (that will surely flatten as soon as it gets in an envelope) with this gorgeous Stampin’ Up! Blackberry Bliss ribbon.

Freshly Made Sketches #166

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday again! Every new Wednesday not only means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, but it also means one week closer to Christmas!  It’s scary how quick it has come around.  The very talented Karren is our hostess this week – take a look at her fab sketch

I decided I wanted a bit of something to my background so I inked up Positively Chevron and finger walker it over my white card stock.  I’ve been holding off on using Four Feathers as I really could use it every week – that’s how much I love it!  Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #243

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is a colour challenge. Take a look at these pretty colours:

JAI243pic

Can you believe this is my card? Don’t think I’ve ever created a white on white card like this. I felt the white card base was the best way to balance out these four colours.  In the end I channeled my inner-CAS and this is what I came up with.

Take a look at the gorgeous inspiration the Design Team – I love how they’ve combined these colours.

Just Add Ink #237

Hey Everyone

I think I may actually be losing my memory!  I totally forgot to publish this post on Friday night.  Looks like I might have to start putting dates in my calendar so I don’t forget again. My excuse is that I’ve been super busy at work and sit down at night and nothing else registers.

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is to:

Just Add Clear Block Stamping

I’m not going to lie – I struggled.  I tried new inks, old inks, markers directly to the clear block and also a bit of heat embossing.  After binning heaps of cardstock, I finally came up with this.  I used my old style Crumb Cake ink to create this background that I think I kept re-inking and stamped over 6 times.  I then finger-walked Dictionary over bits of the background.  I’m going to have to try this technique again at some stage so I can get a bit more practice.

Pals Paper Arts #222 & Retro Sketches #135

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card I made today.  This time I’ve combined my card for the following challenges – Pals Paper Arts and Retro Sketches where you can use any past sketch.  Here’s PPA’s colour combo and the fab sketch I chose from Retro Sketches.

PPA222pic

RS135

I’ve had Stampin’ Up!s Choose Happiness sitting unopened on my bookcase for a little while now and decided it was time to ink it up.  I’ve used my Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight blendabilities to give the flower some colour and the leaves are coloured with my Old Olive blendabilities.  I know Old Olive isn’t part of the challenge colours, but I’m hoping the DT at Pals Paper Arts won’t mind.  I finger walked Dictionary through Early Espresso ink and then stamped it off once on photocopy paper to dull the colour.  I then finger walked it on my cardstock so you can see bits of the print in the background.  The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and I’ve used Banner Blast for the banners. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #156

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s mean a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week I’m the sketch hostess!  Here’s the sketch I’ve designed for this challenge.

FMS156sketch

I wanted to try something different by stamping a sentiment around my circle.  Stampin’ Up! has introduced photopolymer stamps this year in Australia and I find they’re perfect for curving when placed onto the clear block.  The sentiment I’ve curved and trees are from Festival of Trees stamp set.  The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is from Petite Pairs and the designer series papers are from Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper.

We would love for you to join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Head over to the challenge and have a look at the fabulous inspiration from the Design Team – you’re going to love their cards as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by.
