CAS(E) This Sketch #173 & colourQ Challenge #342

Hey Everyone

From a vintage-y tatty card in my previous post today to a very CAS one that probably took a third of the time to create. I’ve created my card for two challenges – CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge and colourQ Challenge.

Look at these colours I’ve combined! I’ve definitely come a long way from when I used to use neutrals only! The Stampin’ Up! stamp sets I’ve used are Papillion Potpourri, Timeless Textures and Four You. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #220

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess is the wonderfully talented Jen Brum.  Jen’s card are really striking in the colours she uses and also her perfect image choices. Head over to her blog and check them out.

I really love Jen’s creative sketch as I found the circles really interesting.  As I’m typing this post I’ve just remembered her fear of circles on cards – from looking at her sketch I now think she’s over this fear!  I’m gonna chuck a circle on all of my sketches now from on! 😉 The butterfly I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Papillion Potpourri and the sentiment is from Birthday Blooms.  As soon as I saw the circles on Jen’s sketch, I thought of my new Stampin’ Up! background stamp set called Timeless Textures.  I thought the swirly circl(y) stamp would work well with the sketch.  The Hello Honey splatters are also from this set.  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #206

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday again, so that means it’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Linda Callahan.  Gee I love the circles on this sketch!

FMS206sketch

I played around with a colour combo that I’ve never used before – Soft Suede and Blushing Bride.  I really love the softness of these colours together.  I also tried something I’ve haven’t even thought about doing in ages – I used Crystal Effects on top of my sentiment and just before it dried, I added Dazzling Diamonds and used my heat tool to dry it off.  Don’t know if you can see a tad of sparkle in my photo – but it is there.  Here’s my card:

The Card Concept #37

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new challenge and a new inspiration picture for you at The Card Concept. Take a look:

CC37pic

Ok, so I am not overly loving my card. Don’t know what it was but I really struggled.  Maybe it was the combination of so many bright colours – but I really couldn’t get my shabby on with them.  My background was created by watercolouring a whole heaps of colours to some watercolour paper and sponging in spots that needed a little more colour.  Here’s what I came up with:

The Card Concept #36

Hey Everyone

I really love challenges as they make me try different colour combos that I would never usually try.  Take a look at the fab inspiration pic we have for you at The Card Concept.

CC36pic

I tried a new-to-me technique – the emboss resist technique.  I heat embossed Stampin’ Up!s En Francais with Clear Embossing Powder.  I then sponged Slate Gray and Morning Meadow ink in patches and then wiped away the excess with a paper towel.  I then set about fussy cutting (gee did they take time!) the fern fronds and flower from Butterfly Basics.  Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us with our challenge. Head over to The Card Concept and link up a card. While you’re there, take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the design team.

I threw this card together in no time – I love it when that happens (wish it would happen like this more often!). I am simply loving Stampin’ Up!s Butterfly Basics so you will be seeing a bit of it over the next few weeks.

Just Add Ink #257

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at Just Add Ink.  This week is inspiration picture week and I found the following pictures that I hope will inspire you.

JAI257pic

I LOVE these colours and knew I wanted to make a vintagey tag.  I found some scrap pieces of DSP that I could use.  No matter how much DSP I try and use, my piles of it never seem to diminish.

Just Add Ink #256

Hey Everyone

Time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This weeks sketch has been designed by Tina.

JAI256sketch

I really love Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla together but I can never photograph it really well.  I originally had some newsprint rolled roses on my card but when I tried to take a photo of it, they were kind of lost with my neutral colour scheme.I decided to take them off and substitute them with Coastal Cabana rolled roses.  I then tied in a blue butterfly to finish it off.  It was only when I started to write this post did I realise that I put my sentiment in the wrong spot – oops! Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #176

Hey Everyone

The very talented and ultra-friendly Cindy Hall is our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Take a look at her fabulous sketch:

Now I may not have made my card a long as everyone else but I was going from memory of the sketch when I went out to my craft room as my son took over my laptop for a few hours.  Have you noticed how many colours I’ve combined here? I really am trying to challenge myself by getting out of my monochromatic comfort-zone 🙂
