Freshly Made Sketches #218

Hey Everyone

There hasn’t been much action from me of late.  I’ve been having a bit of a holiday from my craft room.  There are two reasons for this.  One – because it’s a total mess still from before Christmas and two – because I’ve been catching up on TV series.  After a quick clean up yesterday I managed to make my card for our first challenge for 2016 at Freshly Made Sketches:

FMS218sketch

This sketch is totally fabulous and is designed by the talented Kim Singdahlsen.  It was hard for me initially to create something other than a Christmas card.  I’m still waiting on my newest Stampin’ Up! order – I was a bit slack in putting in an order.  I can’t wait to get some new goodies to get me going again.

Mojo Monday #381 & colourQ #276

Hey Everyone

I’m back with my second post for today.  The challenges I’m entering my card into are: Mojo Monday and colourQ challenge.

mojo381sketch cqc276pic

As with my first post today, I used the same background technique for my card. You can see how I did this my clicking here.  The colours I’ve used for my background this time are Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake.  I’ve used some retired Stampin’ Up! stamp sets for my card – Artistic Etchings, Papaya Collage, Happy Watercolour & French Foliage.  Two of my all-time favourites stamp sets are Artistic Etchings French Foliage.  I’ve combined them with Dictionary & Gorgeous Grunge (both current Stampin’ Up!) stamp sets. The sentiment is from Four You.

Freshly Made Sketches #163

Hey Everyone

Woohoo it’s Wednesday again so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This weeks sketch is designed by none other than the fabulously talented Cindy Hall.  Here’s her great sketch:

As you will see I’ve flipped Cindy’s sketch and used some retired Stampin’ Up! stamp sets – Papaya Collage & Sincere Salutations.  Here’s my card. (And yes, I’m still going through my Blendabilities colouring phase).

The Card Concept #22

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at The Card Concept.  This time we have the following inspiration picture for you to create your cards.

CC22pic

I took inspiration for my card from the colours of the walls and wheelbarrow and also the multitude of colours in the leaves.  I’ve also stamped three different types of leaves and rock’n’rolled them with Cajun Craze and Blackberry Bliss inks.  The leaves are all from retired Stampin’ Up! sets called French Foliage and Papaya Collage.  The sentiment is from Blooming with Kindness.  Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us this fortnight.  Head over to the challenge and link up a card – while you’re there, check out the fabulous inspiration from the design team.

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #307 & The Shabby Tea Room #222

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a great day of play in my craft room today making some cards for my design teams as well as two cards for challenges.  Don’t you love it when you have one of these days?  The first card I’m sharing is for two challenges – Create with Connie & Mary Challenge and The Shabby Tea Room.  Here are their inspiration pics:

This sketch is totally fabulous and when I saw the soft colours at The Shabby Tea Room, I knew they would be combine perfectly.  The designer series paper I’ve used is from a Stampin’ Up! pack called Afternoon Picnic.  You’ve probably noticed I like to combine my stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! – this time I’ve used: Petite Petals, Papaya Collage, Simply Sketched and Flower Shop.  Here’s my card:

Mojo Monday #331 & Dynamic Duos #89

Hey Everyone

I love the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday and the colour challenge at Dynamic Duos this week, so I decided to combine them.

I really need to get myself a new Stampin’ Up! Blushing Bride ink pad and some designer series papers as it’s a colour that I absolutely love.  I used about the only scrap I had from a retired stack that I found and combined it with some Pistachio Pudding designer series paper.  The stamp sets I’ve used are Everything Eleanor, Papaya Collage, Dictionary and the sentiment is from Simply Sketched.  The ribbon I’ve used is also a retired Stampin’ Up one.  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #115

Hey Everyone

I’ve been a bit quiet this last week with my card making due to a shocking migraine over the weekend.  Because I work full time, Saturdays and Sundays are my card making days so it’s annoys me when I lose my crafting time – migraines are the worst!

The lovely Jennifer Timko is our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  She’s created this fabulous sketch that can be kept as is or flipped on it’s side.  I can’t wait to see what you create.

FMS115

I tried to keep to the sketch, I really did, but my leaves and butterflies kept disappearing into the DSP so I added a circle so that you could see they were there. Here’s my card:

Stampin’ Royalty #190 & Mojo Monday #307

Hey Everyone

I’ve changed my mind about Stampin’ Up!s new In-Colours from when I first saw them – I now love them and was really pleased when I saw the colour combo for this weeks Stampin’ Royalty Challenge – gotta love any colour challenged teamed with Crumb Cake!

SR190

I’ve teamed the colour challenge with this weeks interesting sketch over at Mojo Monday.  I was a little unsure about the triangle pieces in the corners of the sketch as none of the DSP I was combining was working for me today.  I decided to keep the triangles the same colour as the background DSP (Pistachio Pudding).  I’ve just used a different pattern and then distressed them a little so you can see I followed the sketch.

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #264 & Mojo Monday #306

Hey Everyone

I’m in love the colour combo over at Create with Connie & Mary this week!!!

CCMC264pic

I’ve teamed their colour challenge with the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.  Here’s their sketch:

Mojo306Sketch

When I first saw Stampin’ Up!s 2013-2014 In Colours I seriously didn’t know if I was going to like them.  Not sure why because I am totally loving them now, especially Pistachio Pudding.  I tend to jump to the wrong conclusion on some products – ie. when I first saw Artistic Etchings, I said to a friend that I wouldn’t be ordering it as I didn’t think I’d use it.  How wrong could I be? – it’s one of my favourite vintagey sets. I need to learn to give things a go before I judge them.

I don’t have any new Blushing Bride DSP so I’ve used some retired off-cuts that I found in my stash.  I dyed my seam binding with Pistachio Pudding ink so that it matches my papers, added some leaves from Papaya Collage and the butterflies are from Papillion Potpourri.  I’m loving the softness of these colours and am really happy with my card.
