Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week is our guest designer Kim’s first sketch and boy, has she designed a fabulous sketch!  I’ve concluded that not only is she talented at card making, she’s just as talented as sketches!

Seize The Birthday – Buttons & Rhinestones

Hey Everyone

We’re holidaying with my 9 year old niece who loves to craft so to repay her for making me a loomies bracelet, I sat down with her to make a card.  On-the-spot-young-girl cards are a bit challenging for me, but I had a ton of fun because I had someone interested in what I was doing for once – not like my 17yo and 14yo boys.  Seize the Birthday has a Buttons and Rhinestones challenge this week so I set about making a card for this challenge.  I’ve used some Stampin’ Up! Sweet Sorbet DSP, stars and bling and I think she really liked it. The stars are from Stampin’ Up!s Simply Stars and the sentiment is from Morning Meadow.  For a bit of extra interest in the background I stamped Off The Grid and Gorgeous Grunge.

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #200

Hey Everyone

Nikki is our hostess this week for Just Add Ink’s 200th Challenge.  She’s given us this pretty inspiration photo to create our projects.

JAI200pic

You might need your sunnies for this one as there’s lots of yellow on my card.  I’ve gone with a shabby flowery creation using Stampin’ Up!s Secret Garden stamp set.

Freshly Made Sketches #118

Hey Everyone

Jen Mitchell is our hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  If you haven’t been over to Jen’s blog you’re missing out – she creates the most beautiful cards that I can spot from a mile off.

FMS118sketch

I’ve gone with a soft colour scheme for my card – Smoky Slate, Crisp Cantaloupe & Pistachio Pudding.  The stamp set I’ve used is a Stampin’ Up! one called Summer Silhouettes and the sentiment is from Morning Meadow.  Here’s my card:

Stampin’ Royalty #208, SUO Challenge #87 & Friday Mashup #141

Hey Everyone

I am LOVING that I am on holidays and can head out to my craft room on a weekday! It’s so nice to not be rushing around on the weekend trying to get all my housework done and then make time for my cards.  I even got a couple of hours of shopping in this morning – (are you even more jealous Karren???).  I’m going to be quick with this post as I’m now off to watch a movie 😉

The card I’m sharing I managed to sneak in for 3 challenges – Stampin’ Royalty sketch challenge, SUO challenge where we create a project using the colours I think of when I think of January and the Tic Toc challenge at Friday Mashup where I create a project with the Theme of Time.

SR208sketch

When I think of January, I think of my sisters birthday.  Her birthstone is a Garnet and because of this, red is her favourite colour – so that’s the main colour I went with on my card.  I was initially looking to use Clockworks for my card, but decided to ditch that idea when I came across Sense of Time first.  It is still one of my favourite retired Stampin’ Up! sets.  I then added the blossom from Morning Meadow and was really happy with the end result – I’m hoping my sister will be too! Freshly Made Sketches #114

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch hostess is the lovely Linda Suarez.  She has created this interesting sketch that I have to admit gave me a bit of trouble. I’m not overly sure that I really like the colours I’ve used on my card but once I started with them I didn’t know how to change them to another combo – I’m really trying to test myself with brighter colours.

FMS114

I’ve gone with the old faithful Stippled Blossoms for my card.  I really love the depth you give to these flowers by using a darker shade of ink over the base colour.  It was only after I stuck my card together did I realise that I was supposed to have my sentiment at the bottom of my card, but then I didn’t know how I could make it work lower (sorry Linda!).

Stampin’ Royalty #203 & The Deconstructed Sketch #128

Hey Everyone

Do you ever make a card that comes together really easy and that you feel really happy about?  This happened to me with this card.  Although my photo doesn’t really show the brightness of the Coastal Cabana DSP – it looks prettier in real life.

SR203 & DS128

The colours for my card where from taken from this weeks inspiration picture at Stampin’ Royalty.  I’m so in love with this colour combo!  I dug up some retired Stampin’ Up! DSP called Spice Cake and teamed it with some current Stampin’ Up! DSP called Aftrnoon Picnic.  The fabulous layout for my card came from this weeks sketch over at The Deconstructed Sketch.  Here are their inspiration pics:

Freshly Made Sketches #113

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday again so that means we have a new sketch at for you to try at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week the lovely and super talented Cindy is our hostess.

FMS113sketch

Following on from this card last week, I’ve made another card using Stampin’ Up!s Tape It and Gorgeous Grunge.  Notice all that white space I managed to keep on my card?  That’s two cards now that I’ve managed not to over-layer with DSP!  I’m pretty proud of myself as this is a new style to me.  Here’s my card:

Stampin’ Royalty #197 & Retro Sketches #85

Hey Everyone

The Design Team at Stampin’ Royalty have a colour challenge this week.  I thought it would work well for a man card – I figured it was about time I made another one.

SR197pic

As I said in my previous post, I love a good sketch and the sketch over at Retro Sketches is perfect for my man card.  This sketch will be a keeper!

RS85sketch

I needed the retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Classic Convertibles as soon as it saw it.  A few men in family love classic cars so I was determined to mix up the cards in my stash so that every man card I made wasn’t always a boat card.  Here’s my card:
