Freshly Made Sketches #189

Hey Everyone

It’s my turn to host this weeks sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I’ve gone for layered shapes for my design – sorry Jen B, it has a circle on it!

FMS189sketch

I’ve been thinking I am well overdue for a man card. So for my card I’ve used Stampin’ Up!s Open Sea and paired it with a sentiment from Petite Pairs.

A quick and easy card that came together in no time! Believe it or not – my row of sequins is actually straight but I think the light they’ve picked up makes them look crooked.  I’ve stamped the splatters from Gorgeous Grunge in Gold Ink and in real life it’s actually quite sparkly. Here’s my card:

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday again! Our sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week is the very talented Kim Singdahlsen.  Here is her fabulous sketch:

I haven’t used Four Feathers in a while so I inked it up for my card today.  I’ve used Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey combined with a strip of DSP from Stampin’ Up!s Park Lane.

The Card Concept #32

Hey Everyone

When I first saw the colours for this weeks Card Concept challenge, I wondered how I was going to make them work for a Shabby Chic card – but once I found the right DSP my card just fell together. Love it when that happens!

Here’s what I came up with:

Just Add Ink #256

Hey Everyone

Time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This weeks sketch has been designed by Tina.

JAI256sketch

I really love Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla together but I can never photograph it really well.  I originally had some newsprint rolled roses on my card but when I tried to take a photo of it, they were kind of lost with my neutral colour scheme.I decided to take them off and substitute them with Coastal Cabana rolled roses.  I then tied in a blue butterfly to finish it off.  It was only when I started to write this post did I realise that I put my sentiment in the wrong spot – oops! Here’s my card:

The Card Concept #31

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at The Card Concept.  Take a look at the yummy looking inspiration pic:

I haven’t used a cupcake on my card – mainly because I don’t have one that I felt worked for my shabby card.  Instead I’ve taken inspiration from the pretty pinks in the frosting and berry.

Just Add Ink #254

Hey Everyone

We have a colour challenge for you at Just Add Ink this week.

JAI254pic

This many colours normally scare me but I love how easy these earthy colours came together.  To create my background I inked up Stampin’ Up!s Hardwood stamp with Baked Brown Sugar ink. To lighten the colour, I stamped it off once on scrap paper and then finger walked it over the card stock. I then inked up Dictionary and finger walked it in random spots on the cardstock. I sponged Baked Brown Sugar around the edges to take the starkness off the white cardstock.  To finish off the background I stamped the splotches from Gorgeous Grunge.  My flowers and leaves are from Stampin’ Up!s Bloom with Hope. Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #177

Hey Everyone

I love that it’s Wednesday again and it’s time for a new challenge for you at Freshly Made Sketches. This week the ultra-talented Karren Johnson is our hostess.  If you haven’t been over to Karren’s blog, you need to, as she is the Queen of techniques and CAS cards.

FMS177sketch

I’ve chosen one of my favourite colour combos at the moment for my card – Black, Gray & Yellow.  The feather and flower are from a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called A Happy Hooray. The sentiment is from Four You and the background stamps are from Gorgeous Grunge and Off the Grid (a retired Stampin’ Up! set).

The Challenge #26 & SUO Challenge #117

Hey Everyone

Don’t you just love it when you get a message or an email that makes you smile?  I got one last week from my good stamping friend – Lesley Croghan.  Lesley invited me to be a Guest Designer for her fabulous challenge called The Challenge for the month of March. I really do feel a bit spesh when I get her messages!

The Challenge is a challenge where every fortnight we are provided with a colour challenge and a sketch challenge.  You can choose to use either or you can use both.  I chose both as all the work is pretty much done for me – I just add the embellishments!

The Challenge #26pic

To keep the variety in my cards, I’ve gone with a card with a young male in mind.  The designer series papers I’ve used are all off-cuts that I had laying around. I always feel good when I can finally put my scraps to good use.  I’m entering my card into this fortnights SUO Challenge as their challenge is to create a card for a teen.

TC26We would love for you to join us with this fortnights challenge.  Head over to The Challenge and check out the inspiration from the Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by.
