Just Add Ink #364

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is an inspiration picture.  I adore this photo – there are so many on trend elements you can use on your project.  I especially love the copper jug.

I tried to carry over as many of the elements from the pic as I could.  I’ve had my Stampin’ Up! Copper Foil Sheets sitting on my desk for a while now and thought this weeks challenge was the perfect time to use them.  Does anyone else not want to use products as you don’t want to waste them?  That’s me with these sheets – even though I know I can buy more…..

For the background of my card I ink up Hardwood with some Smoky Slate Ink and finger-walked the stamp over Whisper White cardstock.  The DSP paper is from a retired pack called Urban Underground Specialty DSP.  I’ve cut this circle with my Circle Framelits. The Whisper White circle is cut with my Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies.

The copper sentiment is a cut with a new-to-me die called Happy Birthday Thinlit Die. I know I will be getting a lot of use out of this one!  The leaves are cut with Stylish Stems Framelit Dies (retired) and Flourish Thinlits Dies.  The little yellow flowers are from Garden in Bloom and they are stamped in So Saffron.  I’ve used a strip of Copper Foil and Burlap Ribbon under everything, but you can only see a smidge of them.  I really must learn to cut a small piece for each end, rather than the whole piece…..that way I wouldn’t have to worry about wasting them! 😉

Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #358

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Just Add Ink for you.  This weeks challenge is for you to:

Not gonna lie. I had no clue what I was going to do with this challenge.  I can’t sew for the life of me.  I buy a pair of jeans on special for $15 and then pay $22 to get them taken up. Not much of a special when I pay so much to alter them…… In the end I got confirmation from the girls that I could use my Stampin’ Up! Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies.  The challenge wasn’t as hard as I thought!

Not sure if I’ve seen blue flowers like these before but I wanted my flowers to match my designer series paper.  The stamp set I’ve used is called Garden in Bloom.  I stamped them in Basic Black Ink and then used Dapper Denim and Hello Honey to give them colour.  The leaves are coloured with Lemon Lime Twist – a colour that I already love!  The sentiment I’ve used is from Dragonfly Dreams.

The Design Team have created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look. We would love it if you could play along with us.

Thanks for stopping by.

Lots of details here but I still managed to keep it clean.  I’ve used Stampin’ Up!s Garden in Bloom and the splatters in the background are from Timeless Textures.  Here’s my card:

Mojo Monday #447 & Create with Connie & Mary #406

Hey Everyone

A couple of people have asked me why I don’t make many of my vintagey over-layered style of cards anymore.  I think it’s a combination of time (well, lack of time – they really do take me longer to finish them) and also the negative comment that was left on my blog last year that all my cards looked the same in this style.  I’m going to try and find the time to mix up my cards so that I have a combination of both clean and vintage.

I’ve combined today’s card for two challenges – the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday and the colour challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  Here are their inspiration pics:

The Challenge #61 & Retro Sketches #204

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card I made today.  This time I’ve combined my card for the inspiration picture challenge at The Challenge and the sketch challenge at Retro Sketches.

RS204sketch

I fell in love with the vintage feel in the inspiration pic and as I’m a sucker for neutrals, woodgrain and smidges of pink, I knew I had to play along. As always Retro Sketches’ layers are right up my alley. It was so easy to combine these two challenges.  Stampin’ Up!s Garden in Bloom is a stamp set I haven’t used in ages so I dusted it off and and gave it a run.  I’ve paired it with some leaves I cut with Botanical Builder Framelit Dies.  The woodgrain panel was created by stamping Hardwood in Tip Top Taupe on to Sahara Sand card stock.  I then used a variety of stamps from Stampin’ Up!s Timeless Textures for the background..  The sentiment is from Four You.  Here’s what I came up with:
