Just Add Ink Challenge #165

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday so that means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  Christine is this weeks hostess and she’s given us the challenge to:

Just Add Woodgrain

I’ve never been a big woodgrain user on my projects and I’m pretty sure I’ve never used my woodgrain embossing folder at all.  I started out with a card for this challenge, then another card and then finally ended up with a vintage tag.  I will be so sad when my most favourite Stampin’ Up! stamp set – French Foliage – retires, but I’m sure I’ll still be using it on some challenges.  Because I use a lot of butterflies, for something different this time, I decided to add some cute little bees from Nature Walk

Head over to Just Add Ink and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Design Team. We’d love for you to join us, so why don’t you create a woodgrain project and link it up?

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink Challenge #164

Hey Everyone

Who loves a sketch challenge? Me!  Mae Collins, Just Add Ink’s sketch Queen, has given us one of my favourite sketches so far:

JAI164_Sketch

I’ve gone quite a bit vintage with my card this week.  I was initially thinking I would create a Mother’s Day card, but in the end I think the embellishments I added suited a Wedding card more. I never seem to photograph these colours really well but in real life the colours are more pronounced and my sentiment is clearer. I’m really happy with this card and am glad I have another Wedding card to add to my stash.

Dynamic Duos #50 & Retro Sketches #61

Hey Everyone

The Design Team at Dynamic Duos have a pretty colour combination for their challenge this week:

DD5pic

I know I’ve ever combined Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride together before, so to give me a little bit of help with layout I’ve combined the colour challenge with this fab sketch at Retro Sketches:

RS61sketch

I went hunting through my piles of DSP to find the striped Blushing Bride DSP I used (it doesn’t really show up well, but it is Blushing Bride).  I then used some Calypso Coral DSP from my barely used DSP stack – I might need to start making more cards using those particular In Colours.  Here’s my card:

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #249

Hey Everyone

The Design Team at Create with Connie & Mary have given us a fabulous sketch this week – one that appealed to my over-layered style!

CCMC249sketch

With our Australian Stampin’ Up! catalogue changing soon, I’ve been taking a look at what stamp sets I do and don’t use anymore.  Established Elegance was in the “don’t use” pile but seeing as it was one of my favourite stamp sets, I don’t think I can part with it. I decided I wanted to use it on my card today as I’ve been going overboard on flowery cards.

Here’s my card:

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #245

Hey Everyone

This is a sad post for me today as my time has come to an end creating with the Design Team at Create with Connie & Mary.  😦 I’ve had a ball and want to thank the whole Design Team for making me feel welcome these last 5 months.  Some of their challenges have tested me and made me really think about my card making.  But I have to say that I have made some of my favourite cards from their challenges.

Now on to this weeks challenge.  It’s a sketch challenge – and here’s their sketch:

CCMC245sketch

As I said in yesterdays post I have only just opened my Sycamore Street DSP.  I loved the Summer Starfruit paper so much, I’ve used it again today!  Here’s my card:

Inspired by Stamping #49 & The Deconstructed Sketch #92

Hey Everyone

If you love a challenge with really soft and pretty colours, the challenge over at Inspired by Stamping is for you. Their colours this week are Kraft, Light Pink & Green.

IBSIC49pic

I don’t make enough tags, so when I saw the sketch challenge at The Deconstructed Sketch I knew I would have to play along.  As soon as I sat down at my desk I reached for a tag I had made previously to get some inspiration and spilt my extra large latte all over it – grrrrrr not happy! I letting it dry to see how it looks – if it dries ok, then I may tell the person I’m giving it to that I meant to have a coffee stained look 🙂

Create with Connie & Mary Challenge #241

Hey Everyone

What I love about challenges is that I get to try layouts and colours combinations that I wouldn’t normally try. This sketch from Create with Connie & Mary is a layout that I would never have come up with myself, so I probably would never’ve made this card if it wasn’t for this great sketch!

CCMC241sketch

I’ve been wanting to use this gorgeous Stampin’ Up! Eiffel Tower paper since I opened the pack.  I’ve never found the right sketch – until now…..  As you can see I’ve really let this fabulous Fan Fair DSP do all the work on my card. The sketch worked best when I flipped it on it’s side – this way you get the full effect of the Eiffel Tower.  I stamped the three images from Postage Due and punched them out with my 1 inch square punch. I then matted them with Sahara Sand cardstock punched with my Postage Stamp Punch.  The fourth square is stamped with French Foliage and then I added a single flower from Stampin’ Up!s Flower Trim with some Sahara Sand leaves.  I joined all four squares with Vintage Trinket brads and finished it off with a big Very Vanilla seam binding bow.

Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge #47 & Mojo Monday #281

Hey Everyone

It feels like it’s been a while since I entered a challenge – I’ve been really busy and only been getting a chance to make cards for the design teams I’m on.  Today I finally had a chance to make a card that I’m entering into three challenges – Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge and Inspired by Stamping February Blog Hop – Bows – for this hand-dyed quadruple scrunchy bow.

IBSIC47pic

My card was made with this weeks Mojo Monday sketch – I love this unusual sketch and had fun working with the circles.

Mojo281Sketch

Just in case you can’t see it (as it didn’t photograph very well), I did get light blue from the challenge colours on my card as background stamping on the middle circle. Here’s my card:

Inspired by Stamping #44 & Mojo Monday #278

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today is for the inspiration challenge at Inspired by Stamping and the sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.

IBSIC44pic

Mojo278Sketch

The thing I love about challenges is that they encourage you to try different colour combinations and layouts than what you would normally try.  I would probably never’ve put red and pink together – but I found I’ve been using them a bit lately. I’m no longer just a neutrals girl!  I’m using Stampin’ Up! Fan Fair DSP again, but it really fits with the challenge colours from Inspired by Stamping.

By now you’d probably see that I love feminine florally cards.  The rose stamp I’ve used is from an Inspired by Stamping set called Elegant Flowers.  I’m not sure if you can pick it up in the photo but I’ve cut out two images per rose and layered one on top of the other to give it a paper tole-ish effect. It really adds dimension to this pretty rose. The leaves I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up! French Foliage. I’m still in my seam binding phase, so this time I’ve dyed my Very Vanilla seam binding with Rose Red Ink.

IBSIC44 & Mojo278Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #151

Hey Everyone

Just Add Ink has a great challenge for you this week.  Tina is this weeks hostess and she has given us the challenge to:

Just Add…..A Shaped Card

I created an easel card made from Stampin’ Up!s window framelits not long ago (you can find it here if you want to check it out).  I loved it so much I decided to create another one using the same framelits.  The designer series papers I’ve used at the top of my card is a retired one called Brocade Background DSP.  The main colour in this DSP is River Rock, a colour I don’t use very often.  I made a few rolled roses in a mix of River Rock and Very Vanilla and layered them with some leaves from my Little Leaves Die. On the bottom of my card I used some of my most favourite ever retired DSP – Love Letter DSP.  I love this houndstooth paper combined with River Rock.

JAI #151 Narelle

Easel cards are good for me because I decorate the inside at the time I make the card (imagine if I left it undecorated when I took the photo – not a good look!).  Apart from the water splotches stamp from French Foliage in the background, I have no real stamping on this card.  I’ve left this card sentiment-less as I didn’t really think it needed one.  It’s now gone into my “card for any occasion” stash.
