Freshly Made Sketches #431

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our sketch has been designed by the wonderfully talented Lee Ann Barrett. Take a look at her fab sketch:

I wanted an image to fill the background space of the sketch, so these pretty birds from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set came to mind.  I gave them colour with my Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate Blends.  The flowers have been coloured with Petal Pink Blends and the leaves have been quickly shaded with Old Olive Blends.

Another reason I chose the Free As A Bird Stamp Set was because of this great sentiment.  Got a few people in mind that I could give this card to at the moment.  The pretty paper I’ve used in the background is from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper pack.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created fabulous cards using this weeks sketch. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #499

Hey Everyone

The design team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards for their newest challenge.  This week the challenge is a colour challenge. Here’s the colour palette we have for you.

I chose to combine the colours using a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  To start my card, .I sponged the background with Blushing Bride Ink. I cut Whisper White and Blushing Bride Cardstock diecuts using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I then stamped the bird image from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set with Black Memento Ink. The birds have been coloured with my Highland Heather Blends and the leaves have been a light colour with Balmy Blue Blends.  I then went to town with fussy cutting the image out. Once I layered the image, I felt it was a little bare on the bottom left side, so I stamped the single flower and leaves from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set and added them to give more balance. The little pearls I’ve used on my card have been coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Blend – as close to Blushing Bride as I could get.

We would love it if you could play along with the challenge. Head over to Just Add Ink and see what the team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #425

Hey Everyone

There’s a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches! This week our sketch designer is the fabulously talented Cecile Ribon. I LOVE this sketch and wished that I could design one as cool as this!

Something I haven’t done until recently, is fussy cut my DSP.  I have always been a hoarder of DSP and only used it sparingly. Many of the SU paper packs have perfectly coloured images that are made for cutting out.  Bird Ballad DSP is one of those packs that has amazing images to cut and adhere directly to a card. The banner pieces I’ve used in the background on my card are also from this pack.  I raised the three banner pieces with Dimensionals and added some Linen Thread around them.  I then tied a Linen Thread bow amongst the flowers – hopefully you can see it.

The only stamping I did on this card is the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  This really was a quick and easy card and came together in no time.

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards to inspire. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #487

Hey Everyone

The challenge for you at Just Add Ink is the last one for 2019.  So if you’re looking for some layout inspiration to get the last of your festive cards created, why don’t you join us for this challenge?

I’ve finished all of my festive cards for this year, so for this sketch, I created a feminine card using the Free As A Bird Stamp Set. The birds were stamped with Black Memento Ink and have been coloured with my Highland Heather and Purple Posy Blends.  The branches were given a light colour with my Crumb Cake and So Saffron Blends. After fussy cutting them out, I trimmed them and placed the images over the two circles.

The sentiment I’ve used is from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set.  This was the sentiment that worked best for my layout.  The designer series paper strip that I’ve added to my card is from the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper pack.  The little rhinestones I’ve finished off my card with are called Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

The team at Just Add Ink have created wonderful cards that will inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #484

Hey Everyone

It’s Friday, so that means a new sketch at Just Add Ink. This week is a colour challenge.  Here’s the colours that we’ve all used to create our cards:

I realised I haven’t made many cards lately with the Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  So I decided I would use it for this weeks challenge.  The image I’ve used has been stamped with Black Memento Ink and I’ve used a combination of Blushing Bride/Smoky Slate and Highland Heather/Smoky Slate Blends on my birds.  I then took Balmy Blue and sponged the background behind the bird and branch image.  The leaves have been given a light colour with Smoky Slate Ink. I then added a strip of Highland Heather Cardstock under the sentiment to bring all the colours together.  I embossed the background with my Scripty 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture to my card.  I then finished off my card with three Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

The team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to the challenge and see what they’ve designed.  We would love it if you could play along with the challenge.

Just Add Ink #472

Hey Everyone

It’s time for another challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week our challenge for you is a sketch challenge:

My initial thought was to create a Christmas Card.  In the end I’ve gone with what isn’t a Christmas card at all……sometimes that just happens 🙂

I started with two different papers from Woven Threads DSP.  I then chose Free As A Bird Stamp Set and coloured my birds with a combination of Ivory and Crumb Cake Blends.  For the leaves I chose Lovely Lipstick and Old Olive Blends.  I then fussy the image out and layered it on a strip of Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim, Crumb Cake Cardstock and a sentiment.  To finish off my card, I added three rhinestones from my Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

Here’s my take on the sketch:

I can’t wait to see what you create with this weeks sketch.  If you’d like some inspiration for the sketch, head over to Just Add Ink and see what the Design Team have created.

Freshly Made Sketches #399

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s mean a new sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch designer this week is Jen Brum.  She is super talented at card making, but also just as super talented at sketch designing.

This is such a great sketch with so many possibilities!  My Free As A Bird Stamp Set was the first set that came to mind when I saw the sketch.  My little birds have been given colour with a combination of my Crumb Cake and Pool Party Blends. The leaves and flowers were given a quick colour with my Old Olive and Melon Mambo Blends.  To add a little colour to the background of my squares, I daubed Pool Party Ink lightly with my dauber.  The sentiment I’ve used on my card is also from Free As A Bird Stamp Set.  It seems I was off with my stamping on the weekend and ruined two pieces of Whisper White Cardstock, so my Stamparatus came to the rescue with lining up the sentiment. I really need to remember to use it rather than wasting cardstock like I do!

The team at Freshly Made Sketches have created wonderful cards using Jen’s sketch.  Pop over to the challenge and see what they’ve created.

Thanks for stopping by.
