Freshly Made Sketches #194

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today is for this weeks sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch has been designed by the very talented and ultra-funny Linda Callahan.

My cousin is getting married in a few weeks time and I thought Linda’s fab sketch would work well for my card.  Black, Cream and Red is a favourite of mine for a wedding card as I love the elegance of these colours combined together.

Just Add Ink #217 & The Paper Players #198

Hey Everyone

We have a fun challenge for you this week at Just Add Ink courtesy of Nikki.  Our challenge for you is to:

Just Add Cupcakes / Cake / Dessert

You’re probably going to look at my card and wonder where the layers are.  This would have to be the most de-layered card I have ever made.  Believe me I did try and add layers – in fact I sat there for about 1/2 hour wondering how I could make it a little more tizzy, but ended up giving up and leaving it as it is.  My cake and sentiment are heat embossed with black embossing powder, fussy cut and raised up with dimensionals.

Edited to post: I had the busiest week last week and didn’t do any of my normal browsing of challenges and missed that The Paper Players has a Wedding Themed Challenge – the lovely Sandy Mathis kindly pointed this out to me, so I’m entering my card into their challenge too. Here’s their inspiration pic:

Just Add Ink #167

Hey Everyone

The challenge for us at Just Add Ink this week is to:

Just Add…….. Fabric

Tina is our hostess this week and has come up with what I considered to be one of the trickiest (is that a word?) challenges I’ve come across.  I’m not sure if it was because I attempted this challenge straight after convention when I was extremely tired or because I have no idea how to use fabric on a card – I think I may’ve over-thought this challenge somewhat…

I was lucky enough to win some goodies from the new Stampin’ Up! Catalogue at Convention (not long now until we get to order from the catalogue!). I’ve used some designer series paper from my prize patrol win called Etcetera DSP.  I was probably a little excited to win but I think I managed to contain my excitement so my fellow Just Add Ink DT members wouldn’t think I was gloating. Who am I kidding?  I was beyond excited – if you’d seen me, you would’ve thought I’d just won a car!  Back to my card though, I was originally going to use canvas creations on my card, but as I made a complete mess of it, I’ve gone with a hand-cut hessian/burlap heart instead.  To add some further fabric I’ve used some Crumb Cake Tulle and added some Vanilla Flower Trim. Here’s my card:

Hey Everyone

Have you been over to Freshly Made Sketches this week?  There’s a little announcement that I have been asked to Guest Design for the month of March!  Whoo hoo! I’m really excited and want to hugely thank the DT team girls for asking me to join in the fun.

Anyway, enough blowing my own trumpet or horn – or whatever the saying is – here’s my card for this weeks sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  I went for a monochromatic wedding card as I’ve given away a couple of cards recently for weddings I’ve been to.

Runway Inspired Challenges #3 & The Paper Players #77

Hey Everyone

I’ve got a wedding coming up soon so my card is inspired from a new challenge blog that I’ve found – Runway Inspired Challenges and I’ve teamed this with the All You Need is Love theme at The Paper Players.  This is my second entry into this challenge – but what says love more than a wedding? (unless you’re Kim Kardashian!)

This is the inspiration pic from Runway Inspired Challenges:

Pals Paper Arts #123 & Freshly Made Sketches #14

Hey Everyone

At Pals Paper Arts this week they are “Puttin’ on the Ritz” – that is, their challenge is to create a project that is a little bit fancy.  When I think of fancy, I think of getting dressed up.  The one occasion I get dressed up for is for a wedding (in fact I went to one yesterday), so with that in mind I pulled out my never-used flocked Mocha Morning DSP. I also dragged out my old faithful retired wedding stamp set – For the Bride.  I combined this challenge with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Challenges this week.  Jennifer’s sketch was perfect for my bride to use as a focal point.

Here’s the inspiration pic.

Here’s the Freshly Made Challenges sketch that I flipped:

Pals Paper Arts #116

Hey Again Everyone

Over at Pals Paper Arts this week they have a sketch challenge for us.  I love a sketch challenge as most of the thinking is already done for me so I can whip up my card a bit quicker than usual – I think this card only took me 2 hours! (or close to it). Once again, I’ve gone for a shadow box type card.

I was laughing with one of the girls at work yesterday about her attending a wedding today and she hadn’t made the card yet.  I also have a wedding to attend in November and was quite pleased with myself as I have already made the card 2 weeks ago.  When I saw the sketch at Pals Paper Arts this week, the only thought that came to my mind was a wedding card and now that I’ve made this one, I think I’ll give this one to my husbands workmate in November (I like this card better than my previous one). Here’s my card:

Here’s my card:

This is what I came up with:
