Just Add Ink #323

Hey Everyone

Tina has suggested this weeks challenge at Just Add Ink. Her challenge for us is to:

Just Add F

This means we want you to create a project with a product or even a few products starting with the letter F.  I’ve used a few F’s on my card – the stamp sets I’ve used are Festival of Trees and Flurry of Wishes and the DSP I’ve used is from Fresh Prints DSP Stack.

The girl have created some fabulous projects – head over to Just Add Ink and check them out.

Thanks for stopping by.

The colours from ColourQ has me thinking Christmas.  I always like to try new combo’s for my Christmas cards – kind of unexpected but I think they work really well.  Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #156

Hey Everyone

Wednesday’s mean a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week I’m the sketch hostess!  Here’s the sketch I’ve designed for this challenge.

FMS156sketch

I wanted to try something different by stamping a sentiment around my circle.  Stampin’ Up! has introduced photopolymer stamps this year in Australia and I find they’re perfect for curving when placed onto the clear block.  The sentiment I’ve curved and trees are from Festival of Trees stamp set.  The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is from Petite Pairs and the designer series papers are from Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper.

We would love for you to join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Head over to the challenge and have a look at the fabulous inspiration from the Design Team – you’re going to love their cards as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Creative Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

Something a little different from me today.  I’m participating in the Creative Blog Hop – a continuous hop that happens every Monday where creative people all around the world share a little bit about themselves and their creative processes.  As part of the Blog Hop there are four questions to be answered and then at the end, we get to tag other crafters, that will then repeat the process the following Monday.

I’ve been tagged by one of my fellow Just Add Ink Design Team members – Nikki Spencer.  I met Nikki through blogland but got the opportunity to finally meet face-to-face in May of last year at our Annual Stampin’ Up! Convention.  She, along with all the girls at JAI, made me feel so welcome and instantly part of the team.  Nikki is incredibly talented and I’m in awe of her gorgeous creations.  Head over to her blog and check out how talented she is.

1. What am I working on now?

Being on three design teams, I’ve always got design team samples on the go.  After that, I’ve got my favourite challenges that I love playing along with –  lately there doesn’t seem to be enough time to enter them all.  Also after having a conversation with my mum on the weekend I decided it was time to start working on my Christmas projects as she has an upcoming market that I want to help out with.  So with that in mind – I’ve created the projects below (it was only as I was uploading my photos did I realise how hard Smoky Slate and Soft Sky were to photograph!).

2. How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I had to think about this one long and hard…..  I don’t even really know what my genre is as I’ve been mixing it up lately.  Originally I thought my style was vintagey/shabby chic, but lately I’ve been creating with a bit more of a cleaner style.  With all of my cards, I do tend to over-layer (don’t think that qualifies for it’s own style though!).  Who knows – by Christmas I may even change it up and become a Clean and Simple designer! lol.  I guess my style changes for the different challenges I enter.

3. Why do I create what I do?

I’ve been creating for about 6 years.  Before this, I had no interest in anything crafty, so it still surprises me that I’m addicted to this hobby. I head out to my craft room every chance I get and find it relaxes me.  I finally have “my time”.

4. How does my creative process work?

I find my inspiration from challenges.  I’m always searching for a great sketch or a pretty colour combo – if I can, I try and combine both of these together.

Here’s some Christmas cards that I’ve been working on:

Here I’ve created a gift tag and a gift card/money holder:

Here’s a close up of the gift card/money holder made with the envelop punch board.  They’re so quick and easy to whip up.

I was on a roll with Christmas projects and decided to create a simple gift tag with leftovers that I had sitting on my desk.

Now this is the part where I send you off to the next person on the blog hop – but unfortunately I didn’t find anyone to hop to.  If there’s anyone out there that would like to join in, let me know and I edit this post and have you join in for 29th September.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #231

Hey Everyone

Mae has put together a lovely colour combo for this weeks challenge at Just Add Ink. Take a look:

JAI231pic

This card started out completely different from how it ended. Sometimes when I get stuck I find it best to walk away for a little while and when I come back, new ideas come to me and things just fall into place.  I wouldn’t have thought these colours would work for Christmas, but I have to say I really like this card.  I’ve used some new Stampin’ Up goodies for my card – Festival of Trees stamp set and matching punch.  I’m also loving this sentiment from Bright and Beautiful.  I stamped Gorgeous Grunge splatters in the background in Crushed Curry ink and added some washi that I stamped from Tape It in Basic Black and Crushed Curry ink.

We’d love for you to join us Just Add Ink this week.  The design team have created fabulous inspiration for you – head over to the challenge and check them out.

Thanks for stopping by.
