Just Add Ink #421

Hey Everyone

Thank goodness it’s Friday! I get a whole weekend of craft room time – as soon as I get some cleaning done, that is…

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  We have a sketch for you to try this week and the sketch designer is me. I hope you like it and get a chance to play along!

By now you probably know I love all things floral.  I’ve even been asked if I’m a florist…. I wish I spent the time arranging flowers in a vase as I do when I create my cards.  My flowers are usually just shoved in a vase with no precision at all!

The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used on my card is Petal Palette.  The flowers are stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with my Rich Razzleberry Watercolor Pencil.  The leaves joined to the flowers are coloured with my Old Olive Waterolor Pencil and the large leaves are stamped in Old Olive Ink and fussy cut out.

For the background I used a mix of stamps from Timeless Textures.  These stamps are stamped in Early Espresso Ink. The sentiment I’ve used is from Dragonfly Dreams and is also stamped in Early Espresso Ink.

The woodgrain designer series paper I’ve used in the background is from Wood Textures Designer Series Stack. I then scrunched up some Burlap Ribbon and layered it under the sentiment.

The design team at Just Add Ink have created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #349

Hey Everyone

Look at me posting for a second time today! This card I’ve created is for the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our fabulous sketch has been designed by my fellow downunderer (I totally made up that word….) Karren Johnson.  Karren’s card are always creative, witty and just plain gorgeous!

Karren’s sketch is perfect for adding layers or keeping it CAS.  I’ve done a bit of both. I’ve kept a white background but added a couple of layers under my Graceful Garden roses.  The roses are heat embossed with White Embossing Powder and very lightly watercoloured with Rich Razzleberry Ink.  This technique is so easy to watercolour as the embossed lines are there to keep the watery ink from spreading.

The leaves were also given the same light watercolouring treatment with Old Olive Ink.  The sentiment I’ve used is from Dragonfly Dreams.  I then added a strip of Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon and some sequins.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #343

Hey Everyone

Who’s ready for a new sketch challenge? Me!!! We have a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches for you.  This week our sketch hostess is the super talented Jennifer Timko!

Stampin’ Up!s Rooted in Nature is new to me and I have been wanting to use these trees from the set.  Jennifer’s sketch was perfect for me to ink up the trees and fussy cut them out.  I applied Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso Markers directly to the stamp, huffed on them and then stamped onto Whisper White Cardstock.  I then fussy cut them out and layered them on my card.  This technique is one I haven’t used in ages, but it works really well when you want to add multiple colours to a stamp.  I always start with my lightest colour first so I don’t transfer my darker ink to my lighter markers.

The sentiment I’ve used on my card has been stamped in Basic Gray Ink.  The sentiment is from Dragonfly Dreams.  I added a button and some Linen Thread and my masculine card was done.

Here’s my card:

We would love it if you could play along with Jennifer’s sketch.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and take a look at the inspiration the Clean Team have made for you.

Colour INKspiration #34

Hey Everyone

Welcome to the newest challenge at Colour INKspiration Challenges!  Colour INKspiration Challenges are a facebook group where you can find inspiration and join us with our colour challenges.  This week we are showcasing the following colours – Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Basic Gray.

I had lots of ideas running through my head when when I sat down to create with this colour combination.  In the end, this fabulous sentiment from Dragonfly Dreams was the starting point for my card.  My card has been made for a friend at work who is always there with a smile, a hug and both shoulders to cry on when I need them.

The flowers, leaves and cute bee are from Stampin’ Up!s Garden In Bloom.  I have lightly coloured them with my Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencils.  I added some definition around the centre of my flowers with my White Gel Pen and added some Basic Gray Ink to the centre of the flowers.

Beneath the layering of my sentiment and flowers, I added a strip of Pool Party Cardstock and some Pool Party Bakers Twine.

I’m the last person on the hop.  If you’ve just started this fun hop with me, then don’t worry, you can see all the gorgeous cards our team have created by clicking on the next button below.  This will take you the oh-so-creative Kelly Kent’s blog where you will be able to see her pretty project.

To link up your card, click here to take you to the Colour INKspiration Facebook group.  This challenge will run for three weeks, so you have oodles of time to play along.  We really do love seeing your creations!

Urban Underground Card Class

Hey Everyone

I created projects recently for my class girls that featured Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper before it retired. It’s taken me a few weeks to remember I hadn’t put them on my blog.

The two first projects are using Stampin’ Up!s Dragonfly Dreams.  I was so glad that this stamp set carried over as it’s one of my favourites.

This is one of my go-to layouts.  I’m a huge circle fan and by layering some circles and adding a couple of banners, the card has a fullness to it that I love. My dragonfly is lightly coloured with Stampin’ Up!s Watercolor Pencils to give it a little more definition and I added some Black Metallic Thread to finish it off.

For my second project we made a post-it notepad holder with calendar.  We used the same pencil technique to give the dragonfly a bit of colour.  I stamped this fabulous sentiment from Beautiful You as it fit perfectly on my card stock and also because I really liked the words. I added some Black Linen Thread and a sequin just because I liked the look of it!

We then moved on to Stampin’ Up!s Lift Me Up stamp set.  We created two cards using this set.

The first card could be for either a male or a female with these colours and these stamps.  My usual cards are florally so it’s nice to have a card in my stash for a man.  If we had more time in the class, we could’ve coloured the balloons, but I liked them clean and didn’t want them to clash with the background DSP.

Our last card was a shaker card.  We’d never made one before and I hoped they liked it.  Shaker cards are fun and can be used for any age group.

I hope you enjoyed these projects.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #274

Hey Everyone

Sketches are the easiest challenges to enter.  Most of the work is done for you. All you have to do is choose some colours, an image, a sentiment and your card is done!

We have a fabulous sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches.  This weeks sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Brum.

Does anyone else see a newly released stamp set and think there’s no way you’d ever buy it?  That was me with Dragonfly Dreams. When I saw the lovely creations people were making, I caved and got it. I laugh now because I am totally in love with it! Why did I ever think I wouldn’t use it?
