Freshly Made Sketches #310

Hey Everyone

We have a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This weeks sketch has been designed by the super talented Kim Singdahlsen.

Have a look at her cool sketch:

When you make a card, do you go with the first idea that pops into your mind?  I do and then I do everything to make it work.  I don’t often change my mind about stamp sets and dies after my initial idea.  For some reason when I saw this fabulous sketch I had Christmas in mind.  People I work with will tell you once I make up my mind, I don’t usually change it.  Probably everyone who knows me will say the same thing……

Even though layering of these trees took me probably 1/2 hour, I was determined to make them work. I even cut three more and played with them until I felt I had my card right.  The trees I’ve used are cut with Stampin’ Up!s Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies.  I’ve used Old Olive cardstock as this matches the stripe-y DSP on my card. The DSP I’ve used is from Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper.  Nothing quite says Christmas like diagonal striped DSP!

The sentiment I’ve used is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink.  This great sentiment is from Cookie Cutter Christmas.  My layers are all matted with Basic Black cardstock and I tied some Basic Black Bakers Twine with a bow to pull everything together.  I then added some black sequins (as always in threes) to add some sparkle to my card.

As always the team have created wonderful cards to inspire you.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and check them out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Freshly Made Sketches #268

Hey Everyone

I can’t believe this is our final challenge for 2016 at Freshly Made Sketches! This weeks sketch has been designed by Jen Mitchell – the creator of some of my favourite cards.  This sketch challenge is open until 2nd January, so plenty of time for you to play along.

I know, it’s another Christmas card……I think I finally have the right number of cards I need.  I’ve used Stampin’ Up!s Sleigh Ride Thinlits for my card – I love just how they fill up a space with their layers. Speaking of layers, this card has plenty!  The sentiment I’ve used is from Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set. You can’t see it in my photo, but I’ve heat embossed this sentiment in black embossing powder.

Here’s my card:

Freshly Made Sketches #266

Hey Everyone

I love great sketches and this is one of those!  Amy O’Neill is not only a talented card maker, she’s a superb sketch designer.  Here’s our latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches:

One of my all time favourite Stampin’ Up! Christmas stamp sets is Evergreen.  It’s a retired set, but I love the shape of these trees, so I can’t see myself ever getting rid of it.  My little reindeer is from Cookie Cutter Christmas – a set I only recently purchased, so I thought I better give it a whirl.
