Just Add Ink #405

Hey Everyone

Welcome to a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  Every week we have a new challenge for you.  This week is inspiration picture week.  Take a look at these gorgeous warm neutral colours in the pic!

My inspiration of course was from the woodgrain and neutral colours I found in the picture.  Initially I was going to go all earthy with a leafy card, but spied the little vase of white flowers on the bed side table on the left of the picture.  Of course I had to go with a flowery creation!

I chose to use my Orchid Builder Framelit Dies to create white orchids and then used my Climbing Orchid stamp set to stamp the centre of the orchid.  I then added some yellow to the centre of the flower as it looked a little plain with just the black stamping on it.  I then used a combination of leaves from my Botanical Builder Framelit Dies.

The sentiment I’ve used is from Stampin’ Up!s Petal Palette.  I stamped my sentiment in Early Espresso Ink. The designer series paper strips I’ve layered on my card are from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  I can’t believe I only recently purchased this pack…….but so glad I did!

I totally adore all the cards the team have created.  Head over to Just Add Ink and take a look at their wonderful cards.  We would love it if you could join us with this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Colour INKspiration #25

Hey Everyone

Are you ready for a fabulous year of colour challenges at Colour INKspiration?  I am! This is the first challenge for 2018 and it’s a gorgeous combo that I wouldn’t normally add together (that’s why I love colour challenges – they make me try different combinations that I wouldn’t think to combine!)

We would love it if you could join us with this colour challenge – click here to show us your creation.

As soon as I saw these colours, I knew I wanted to create a card with blue flowers……I actually had to google if there is such a thing as blue orchids. And there seems to be!  I don’t think I’ve used the correct leaves with my orchid, but I just liked the look of these Lemon Lime Twist leaves punched with my Stampin’ Up! Leaf Punch.

Here’s my card:

Next hop along the way is my fellow Melbournian, Rachel Palmieri.  She has created a gorgeous card to inspire you to join us with this challenge. Make sure you hop the whole way around to check out the amazing cards the team have created.

Thanks for stopping by.

Freshly Made Sketches #318

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge at Freshly Made Sketches for you.  This sketch challenge will be running for two weeks over the Christmas period as we know everyone will be busy with Santa coming and all that comes with the festive season.  This weeks sketch has been designed by the super talented and super funny Linda Callahan.

As I think I made enough Christmas cards (you never quite know until the last minute though…) I’ve gone with a floral birthday card – as you can never have too many of those! The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I’ve used on my card is called Climbing Orchid.  I coloured my images with a combination of Watercolor Pencils and inks.  To create the centre of my orchids I used Rich Razzleberry cardstock and added white highlights with my white gel pen.  The sentiment I’ve used is from For You.

As I don’t think I’ll be back before Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and fabulous New Year. I look forward to creating with the amazing design team from Freshly Made Sketches for the upcoming year.  Head over to Freshly Made Sketches and see what they’ve created for the final challenge of 2017.

Thanks for stopping by.

CAS(E) this Sketch #239 & Color Throwdown #460

Hey Everyone

The card I’m sharing today is combined for two challenges – the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch and the colour challenge at Color Throwdown.  These challenges combined effortlessly for me today – I love it when it all comes together in under an hour!

Here are their challenge pics:

Initially I was going to create a Christmas card, mainly because of the Merry Little Christmas DSP I had chosen, but then decided I wanted to go with a floral card instead.  One of the things that I love about Stampin’ Up! DSPs is that the papers are so versatile.  Even though this is a Christmas pack, the papers work well for any card.

The orchids I’ve used are from a set called Climbing Orchid.  After stamping the outline of my orchids in Basic Black Archival Ink, I watercoloured my flowers in Dapper Denim Ink.  The outline of the leaves are also stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink and then the centre is watercoloured with Old Olive Ink.

I looked at the MANY stamp sets I have and chose the sentiment from Feather Together as it worked well with the sketch.  I also like the font that has been used in this set.  The branch I’ve used is from Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies – it ties my orchids and leaves together, I think…..

Here’s my card:

Colour INKspiration #15

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new Colour INKspiration challenge! We are kicking off with blog hop this evening! If you have been hopping along you will have come from Jacque Williams’ awesome card.  If not, don’t worry you can follow the hop and start again.  Colour INKspiration is a Facebook Group where you can share your card and be inspired by the creativity there.

The colour challenge at Colour INKspiration has most of the design team playing along this week.  These colours are just gorgeous together and I love how we’ve all used them so differently!

These colours gave me a chance to use my new Stampin’ Up! stamp set – Climbing Orchid.  My orchids are stamped with a mixture of all four colours.  The leaves are stamped with Lemon Lime Twist and the branch that my orchids are placed on has been cut on my big shot with Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies.

The layout of my card was centred around the sentiment as I was determined to use it on my card.  I am loving the font of this sentiment.  To finish off my card I used some little copper sequins.

Here’s my card:

The next hop along along way is the very talented and super lovely Simone Bartrum!  You’re going to love her card.

Thanks for stopping by.
