I’ve created a underwater scene using a couple of Stampin’ Up! sets – By the Tide and By the Seashore. Monochromatic seemed to work well for my masculine card.  Here’s my card:

I realised I was overdue for a man card.  Stampin’ Up!s By The Tide is one of my go-to stamp sets – I love a good seashell!  Black and white with tinges of Crumb Cake is a colour combo that I like to use on my masculine cards.

Freshly Made Sketches #121

Hey Everyone

I’ve just had my first day back at work after having had a four week holiday.  It doesn’t take too long to forget you’ve actually been away!  I’m already looking forward to my next one!

The extremely talented and very funny Linda Callahan is our hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  She has created this really interesting sketch that I have to say challenged me.  It took me a little while to get going with my card but in the end I have to say I am really happy with my card – I hope you can see the sketch in my card.

It didn’t photograph really well, but I’ve scored two lines around my card with my scoring tool.  Initially I drew score lines with my marker but after debating with myself for about 1/2 an hour I re-did my card as I felt the marker lines were a little heavy.  I’ve been practising  clean and simple, so it felt strange not to use designer series papers on my card.

We’d love for you to join us this week at Freshly Made Sketches.  Head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Design Team.

Freshly Made Sketches #108

Hey Everyone

It’s my turn to be sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week.   My sketch was thrown together at the last minute so when it came to creating my card, I had no plan in mind for my card.

So I’ve gone with a monochromatic man card as I thought you might like a break from my flowery feminine cards.  The stamp set I’ve used is a Stampin’ Up! one called By the Tide and the sentiment is from Petite Pairs.  Here’s my card:

We’d love for you to join us at Freshly Made Sketches so head over to the challenge and link up a card.  I absolutely LOVE all the inspiration from the Clean Team – they’ve made my sketch look good!

Retro Sketches #80 & Stampin’ Royalty #192

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a busy weekend with my niece’s baby shower yesterday and an Under 18s Football Grand Final this morning – our club lost 😦 – so I haven’t had much of a chance to play in my craft room.  I did however get a chance to make one card for this weeks Retro Sketch Challenge and the theme challenge at Stampin’ Royalty where the challenge is to make a project using patterned paper.

I know I’ve said this before, but I find man cards not as easy to make as female cards because I can’t tizz them up with bows, bling and flowers.   I thought the sketch at Retro Sketches would be perfect for a man card with all it’s banners and layers.  I’ve used some washi tape for the first time on my card and as I found my stapler, I was able to staple the ribbon around the grommet just for a different look.  Here’s my card:

Sketchbook Saturday #104

Hey Everyone

As my youngest son was feeling unwell today I stayed home from work.  This meant I got a chance to clean up my craft room a bit. I then made it messy again by making a card! The card I made is for Chupa’s Sketchbook Saturday Challenge.  Here’s her great sketch:

You’d probably expect me to go for another feminine florally card with this sketch, but I’m trying to mix it up for you so I don’t bore you with flowers all the time. I’ve been seeing loads of gorgeous cards using Stampin’ Up!s By the Tide so I succumbed and got it in my last order.  I felt it would work well for my Dad’s Father’s Day card as my Dad loves fishing.  I can’t sew for the life of me so all I could manage was some holes along the side of the main panel that I threaded with some Linen Thread.  I actually like the messy look of the threaded holes and think it goes quite well with the oceanic theme. Here’s my card:
