Freshly Made Sketches #240

Hey Everyone

It’s time to play along with a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our hostess this week is Jen Brum. I adore Jen’s elegant and striking cards – head over to her blog and check them out.

I love the layers to this sketch and have used the following colours for my card – Whisper White, Basic Black & Coastal Cabana. I have embossed the sentiment – one that I love from a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Blooming with Kindness and my flower is from Wild About Flowers – also retired. Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #241

Hey Everyone

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is a sketch challenge.  Our sketch has been designed by Tina.

I’ve done it again – I’ve created yet another card using my Blendabilities.  Papillion Potpourri is one of my favourite stamp sets to colour.  To get some inspiration on how to colour my butterflies I googled “butterfly images” and decided to go ahead and use two colours. I really love the two-toned butterflies and how they pop of this Black & White DSP from Back To Black.

The Card Concept #22

Hey Everyone

We have a new challenge for you at The Card Concept.  This time we have the following inspiration picture for you to create your cards.

CC22pic

I took inspiration for my card from the colours of the walls and wheelbarrow and also the multitude of colours in the leaves.  I’ve also stamped three different types of leaves and rock’n’rolled them with Cajun Craze and Blackberry Bliss inks.  The leaves are all from retired Stampin’ Up! sets called French Foliage and Papaya Collage.  The sentiment is from Blooming with Kindness.  Here’s my card:

As you can see I’m still going through my blendabilities colouring phase and have once again used some flowers from Bloom with Hope.  The designer series papers I’ve used are from a DSP pack called Park Lane and the sentiment is from Blooming with Kindness.  Here’s my card:

Pals Paper Arts #194 & Retro Sketches #105

Hey Everyone

I’ve had a wonderful long weekend –  did lots of relaxing and a bit of card making.  One of the cards I made was combined for two challenges – the colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts and the sketch challenge at Retro Sketches.  Here are their inspiration pics:

Do you ever have those days when one card will work for you and then the next one doesn’t?  That was me today.  The card I’m sharing was the one that didn’t quite work for me – not sure why, but I’m just not feeling it…..  I did a bit of colouring on this card that I enjoyed.  Stampin’ Up!s Happy Watercolour is perfect if you want to have a go at it.  I then fussy-cut my stems out and raised them up on my card.  It was then that I realised I’d forgotten to add Smoky Slate to my card. So up my flowers came so I could sneak Smoky Slate in by adding some water splotches to the background.

Now you’re going to have to come back on Friday if you want to see the card I made today that I love!

Thanks for stopping by.

The Deconstructed Sketch #136 & colourQ #226

Hey Everyone

I just love Jen’s sketches from The Deconstructed Sketch as I think they fit my over-layered card style.  I’ve combined this sketch challenge with the colour challenge at colourQ.  Here are their inspiration pics:

I’ve gone with some really old Stampin’ Up! designer series paper that I had stashed away in my cupboard.  I found some Pink Pirouette DSP back from when you could buy a whole pack of one colour and the chevron DSP is from a retired pack called Urban Oasis. I’ve also added a bit of Fan Fair DSP in there.  The flower stamp I’ve used is a new one from a set called Happy Watercolor and the sentiment is from Blooming with Kindness.  Here’s my card:

Pals Paper Arts #180 & Dynamic Duos “Triple Threat Challenge” #80

Hey Everyone

This is my second post today – to see my earlier post you can click here.  The challenges I’m entering my card into are Pals Paper Arts and Dynamic Duos “Triple Threat Challenge”.  Here are their inspiration pics:

It’s been ages since I’ve used Stampin’ Up!s Secret Garden, so I’ve dusted it off and used it today.  The flowers are stamped in Raspberry Ripple and lightly coloured with my blender pen. The sentiment I’ve used is also a Stampin’ Up! one called Blooming with Kindness.  I found that when I went looking for some Blushing Bride DSP, I only had some off-cuts from a retired Hostess Gift pack (I think!).  I might have to get myself a new DSP stack in my next order.
