Freshly Made Sketches #287

Hey Everyone

It’s new sketch time at Freshly Made Sketches! Our newest sketch has been designed by the super talented Jennifer Timko.  Jennifer has created this cool sketch. Can’t wait to see what you all do with it!

I revisited Birthday Blooms for my card today.  I just adore this flower.  I embossed it with White Embossing powder and watercoloured it with Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum and Lemon Lime Twist.  Do you love Lemon Lime Twist as much as I do? It’s going to be my new favourite colour.  I added a strip & bow of Bakers Twine and a strip of Burlap Ribbon.

The design team at Freshly Made Sketches has created gorgeous cards to inspire you. Head over to the challenge at take a look.

Thanks for stopping by.

Just Add Ink #327

Hey Everyone

It’s time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This weeks challenge is a colour challenge and has been suggested by Jan.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I spent Saturday wandering around Paperific, a craft show here in Melbourne.  Craft shows are perfect if you want to get inspired (which I did) and is also good if you want to learn how to use new products.  At one point Rochelle and I were standing watching a demonstration when we spied a striking card that had a light blue and dark blue background with a white die cut sentiment.  For the life of me (because I’m not a big technique crafter) I couldn’t tell you the technique that was used – but I liked the effect. Rochelle gave me the challenge of re-creating a card like it.  Unbelievably the challenge colours at Just Add Ink are exactly what I needed to accept Rochelle’s challenge.

To create my background I have heat embossed the leaves and flowers from Birthday Blossoms with white embossing powder on watercolour paper.  I then spritzed the paper with water and then watercoloured, quite haphazardly, a combination of Soft Sky and Denim Dapper Ink.  The little flowers I’ve used are from Swirly Bird and the die cut leaves are from Botanical Builder Framelits.  The “Happy” sentiment is created with Hello You Thinlit Dies and the “Birthday” sentiment is from Four You. Here’s my card:

CAS(E) This Sketch! #186 & colourQ Challenge #355

Hey Everyone

Hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend – it’s almost over in Australia as I’m writing this post :(.  I managed to sneak in a card this weekend that wasn’t for design team stuff.  I’ve combined my card for two challenges that I love and that work out time perfect for when I’m looking for challenges on a Sunday afternoon – the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch! and the colour challenge at colourQ. Here are their inspiration pics:

Birthday Blossoms is such a pretty set and perfect for watercolouring.  The stripey DSP I’ve used is from Pop of Pink Specialty DSP and the sentiments I’ve used are from Greetings Thinlit Dies and Happy Birthday Everyone. Three sequins and my card was done!  Here’s what I came up with:

You all know how much I love flower stamp sets. I’ve just found a new one to play with – it’s called Painted and Penned. I’ve used Floral Boutique DSP on my card again and my sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms.  Here’s my card:
