Blends on Vellum Tip

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and Saturday morning here in Australia.

I’ve got a tip to share with you on how to use your Stampin’ Up! Blends on Vellum Cardstock.  I’ve watercoloured on Vellum Cardstock before with my Aqua Painter, but until recently hadn’t tried my Blends. Because of the slick surface to vellum, I found the result quick streaky and the ink didn’t dry for ages – if at all.

To get around the streaky finish, I did the following:

  • Start with embossing an image on the vellum with Embossing Powder and Heat Tool.  I’ve chosen Painted Poppies Stamp Set for my card.
  • Turn the image over and apply your Blend colour of choice to the back of the image.  I’ve added a light shade over the complete image and then applied a dark shade around the centre of the flower.
  • I then took my Journaling Pen and in a little zig-zag type motion, I added shadows around the centre of the flower.

As you can see with the flowers on the left, I truly haven’t been that careful with my colouring and shading.  When you flip the flower over, you will see the vellum is very forgiving and softens any lines you may have left.  Once you adhere your image to your card, the tackiness is face down and won’t be a problem.  I attached the poppies to my card with Dimensionals which are hidden under the embossed centre of the flowers.

Black, white and yellow is one of my favourite colour combinations and this strip of DSP from Golden Honey Speciality Designer Series Paper makes any card a stand out.  You can earn this gorgeous pack of DSP during Sale-A-Bration when you spend $90 here in Australia.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – From My Heart Suite

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!  This month the team have created projects featuring the products in the From My Heart Suite.  I’ve created a card, mini heart gifts cards and decorated a Heart Foil Tin for the gifts cards. There may or may not be chocolates still in the Heart Foil Tins. Not sure what happens to chocolates after I photograph them. They just kind of disappear when I’m not looking…..

The card I’ve created features images from the Heartfelt Stamp Set as well as one of these sweet Heart Doilies. The piece of DSP I’ve matted with Smoky Slate Cardstock is called From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I gave my Whisper White Cardstock some background stamping with my Versamark Ink and White Embossing Powder. Once I set the embossing powder, I layered it over my DSP.  I added one of the Heart Doilies and looped some Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon over a strip of Smoky Slate Cardstock before adding a stamped Heart, arrow and embossed sentiment.  The From My Heart Faceted Gems were the perfect bling-y finish I needed to my card.

I was really pleased with these Heart Foil Tins when they arrived! I can see so many uses for them.  I decorated mine with the same images and doily that I used on my card.  I then took some of the fabulous Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon and adhered it around the lid of the tin.  I then tied the biggest bow I could and added it to the edge.

I would’ve loved to have baked in these fabulous Heart Foil Tins, but I’m hopeless at baking…..so I stuck with creating mini gift cards. To create them, I folded a piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock in half and used the smaller punch from the Heart Punch Pack to cut a heart out of the folded cardstock – making sure I left the corner un-punched (is that even a word?) I then inked up the centre of the gift card with stamps from the Heartfelt Stamp Set.   I added heart doilies to the front of the gift cards and decorated them with a stamped heart and sentiment.

I hope you like what I’ve created with these products.  The next hop along the way is the super talented Nina Waldschmidt.  Click here or not the button below to take you to her blog.

Artisan Design Team – Sale-A-Bration Coordination Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the very first 2020 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop!  But first, have a look at the gorgeous colours they’ve used in the Artisan picture above. They’re so pretty that I think I may have to combine these colours on a card soon!

The Artisan Design Team are featuring products from the Coordination Product Release. The Coordination Product Release is an exclusive, limited-time collection of products that has everything you need to let you celebrate your creativity. These products are available for demonstrators to pre-order from 3rd January-3rd February.  Preorders are limited to one per demonstrator. By getting your hands on these products now, you can demonstrate to your customers how they coordinate with items from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue and the January-June 2020 Mini Catalogue.  Let them know that these goodies are available to order from the 4th February 2020 and that these products are available for a limited time, so they won’t want to miss out.

The cards I’ve created feature the Nature’s Thoughts Dies.  These dies coordinate with the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set which is available to purchase now from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalogue.  You might know I’m a fussy cutter, but I’m not now with these dies! From beginners to the avid crafter these dies will make creating cards a breeze.

I had fun with colours and layering with the cards below:

To create the first card, I daubed the background Whisper White Cardstock with Pear Pizzazz Ink.  I stamped two fern fronds on to Whisper White Cardstock with Pear Pizzazz Ink and used the coordinating die to cut them out. I then stamped two Smoky Slate flower images and cut them out with the coordinating die. To add some definition to the flowers, I took my Journaling Pen and added some dots to the centre of the flowers.  I then added the sentiment with a strip of Mint Macaron Cardstock and a strip of Smoky Slate die cut with another die from the set.

For my second card I matted the daubed Whisper White Cardstock with some Smoky Slate Cardstock. I wanted to create a frame with the frame die in the set.  I used my trimmer to cut the centre out of the die cut to create a thin frame.   I then stamped and cut two fern fronds and layered them in the frame.  I fell in love with the butterfly from the stamp set and wanted to use it on my second card.  I gave my butterfly some colour with my Mint Macaron and So Saffron Blends. Lucky for me, there’s also a framelit for this butterfly in the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. I then added a strip of Mint Macaron Cardstock and a Smoky Slate Cardstock edgelit under the sentiment.

These coordination products are amazing and save you fussy-cutting time – that means you can spend more time creating fabulous projects!  Don’t forget, Demonstrators have exclusive access to these products now, so why don’t you give yourself a little New Years present and put in an order?

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Tiny Keepsakes Bundle & Tags, Tags, Tags Bundle

Hey Everyone

The 2019 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team are hopping for the final time this year.  It wasn’t until I started typing that it felt real and realised that year has gone by in the blink of an eye! I’ve had the BEST time with these fabulous and very creative gals.  We may’ve even had more than a few laughs. Actually, truthfully we’ve had a ton of laughs……mostly at me when Jackie was involved…… For the bottom of my heart I want to thank them all for their friendship, support, love and fun times and also a big thank you to Stampin’ Up! for this amazing opportunity xxx

The projects I’ve created for our final hop have been made with the Tiny Keepsakes Bundle and the Tags Tags Tags Bundle.

Next year we have a wedding in the family.  As the best aunt ever, I decided I would play around with wedding favour ideas just in case I’m asked to provide some. If not, then I’ll offload them throughout the year with a Ferrero Rocher inside them.

I’ve created two different types of favours cut with my Mini Curvy Keepsake Dies because I couldn’t decide which I liked best – Crumb Cake Cardstock or Vellum Cardstock.

For the Crumb Cake ones, I added a Whisper White Cardstock tag cut with my Trio of Tags Dies.  I added a sentiment stamped from the Mini Keepsakes Stamp Set on Crumb Cake Cardstock and cut with my 1″ Circle Punch.  I took a strip of Gold 3/8″ Metallic Edge Ribbon and wrapped it around the box and tied a bow on top. Because I couldn’t stop there with embellishments, I added some Braided Linen Trim, a vellum sprig and created some roses and leaves to pretty up my tags.

The vellum boxes have been created in the same way as the Crumb Cake ones. For these ones, I added a Crumb Cake Tag and the sentiment stamped on Whisper White Cardstock.

The roses have been made by punching a Blushing Bride Cardstock 1 1/2″ Circle.  I then used my scissors to cut in a circular motion until I got to the centre of the cardstock.  I scrunched up the circle in my hand to loosen the fibres and rolled it in to shape. Tombow Liquid Glue is the best thing to hold these roses together.  The leaves have also been created with the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch.  Once the Mossy Meadow circle was punched, I then used the same punch to cut out three leaf shapes from each circle.  All roses and leaves have been adhered to my tags with the holder of everything – Tombow Liquid Glue.

The next hop along the way is the very talented Rochelle Blok. She has created the sweetest projects that you will want to see.

Artisan Design Team – Sale-a-Bration 2020 Sneak Peak Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

We have a special hop for you today!  The 2019 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team have created projects using various stamp sets from the 2020 Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

Sale-A-Bration pre-earn is finally here from 3 December 2019 to 2 January 2020! This means that demonstrators can earn items in the Sale-A-Bration Shop offering early. For every $90 AUD/$110 NZD or $180 AUD/$220 NZD you spend, you choose a free item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure that matches the level you spent. Demonstrators can even use the pre-order of the January–June mini catalogue and purchase items from that catalogue or any other current catalogue, and earn free Sale-A-Bration products! If you aren’t a demonstrator yet, this is a great sneak peek to see what is in store for Sale-A-Bration beginning 3 January 2020!

The card I created is made with the Lovely Lily Pad Stamp Set. Before designing my card, I googled waterlilies to get some ideas on colours and how I would use this stamp set.  My initial thought was to use the waterlily stamp and create a flowery/leafy creation, but instead I went with a realistic waterlily pond card.

I started with some Balmy Blue Ink and a dauber.  I daubed until I had a background that I was happy with and that would give my waterlilies and lily pads a watery base.  On my google search, I found that waterlilies can be many colours, so I went with a deep red.  I stamped the outline of the waterlily with Black Memento Ink and coloured the petals with Cherry Cobbler Blends.  To give depth and definition to the flower, I added shadows to the centre of the waterlilies with my Smoky Slate Blends. The leaves have been coloured lightly with Mint Macaron Blends.

One of the best things about this stamp set is that it has reversible stamps! You might be wondering what that is, so I will explain how I used them on this card.  Once you’ve stamped your outline of your image and clean it off, you can turn the stamp over on your block and it will stamp the solid image.  Each of the stamp set images have the reversible solid stamp, so if you’re not a colourer like me, then you can let the stamp do all the work!  I think this card is suited more for the avid crafter with all the colouring, daubing and fussy cutting.  But you can simplify this card using the reversible stamp to colour the image and the matching dies that are also available during the Sale-A-Bration period.
I used the reversible stamp on each of my lily pads to give them Mossy Meadow centres.  Because I wanted a deeper colour for them, I inked up the image and stamped it three times. It then gave me a variance in the ink and a shadowy look on the pads.
I then added a sentiment from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set as I felt it matched my card and a single rhinestone from Noble Peacock Rhinestones.
Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration pre-order for demonstrators starts today (3rd December).  This is an exclusive benefit for demonstrators to get your hands on these amazing products early.  For your customers and friends, they will be able to order from 3rd January.

The next project featuring SAB products for you to see if my friend, Rochelle Blok.  I know she has created the most gorgeous card for you to see.  Click here or on the badge below to take you to her blog.

Sydney Onstage Live Event 2019 & My Exciting News

Hey Everyone

I’ve been spending the last few days in Sydney to attend the 2019 Stampin’ Up! Onstage Live Event with fabulous friends (and as you can see in this photo of the Opera House, about 3000 tourists…….) These events not only give me the chance to see and touch all the new products available soon in the 2020 Mini & Sale-A-Bration Catalogues, I also use this time to laugh, eat loads and maybe even have a gossip or two with my roomies.

You will probably all know that I was lucky enough to be chosen to be part of an amazing design team for this year.  I’ve been a member of the 2019 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Team creating alongside 15 other incredible crafters from around the world.  It was a dream of mine to be on the team and I’ve had THE best time!

I can now let you in on my news.  I was chosen for the 2020 Stampin’ Up Artisan Design Team! When the call came, I was almost a little teary and I can’t remember most of the conversation. This has been a sad year for me after losing my dad 5 months ago, so the call from Stampin’ Up! to let me know I was staying on the team for one more year, completely made my day.

Here’s a list of names of the talented Stampin’ Up! Artisans I will be creating with – I’m so looking forward to getting to know all of this team!

Some more good news is that I get to create alongside my Melbourne girl Rochelle Blok.  Rochelle and I have been on the current design team together and I’m super excited that we will be continuing on the team next year.  If only she learnt how to scooch for a photo ……. Massive congrats to you Rochelle!

Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Design Team – Toile Tidings Suite

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the latest Stampin’ Up! 2019 Artisan Design Team Blog Hop.

The projects I’ve created feature cards and gift boxes using the Tidings All Around Bundle. I’ve designed matching cards and gift boxes to give to loved ones who I know will cherish them and all the details I’ve added to them.

I’ve used the pretty Real Red striped paper from Toile Tiding Designer Series Paper on this card and box.  The wreath on the card is has been cut with my All-Around Wreath Dies.  Initially I was going to go with a stamped wreath for the card, but I liked how the solid Mossy Meadow Cardstock stood out more.  I stamped the little flowers in Elegant Eggplant Ink and fussy cut them out. I then added some foliage cut with my All-Around Wreath Dies. I trimmed some Real Red 1″ Ruched Ribbon and bunched it together with Linen Thread and tied one of these cute Jingle Bells to it.

The gift box I’ve created starts with a Gold Mini Pizza Box.  After adding some Toile Tiding Designer Series Paper, I adhered my wreath from the Tidings All Around Stamp Set.  I may’ve then gone a little crazy with my ribbons….. I went for a looped double bowed Burlap Ribbon effect. Because you can’t have too much ribbon, I then added some Real Red Ruched Ribbon to the mix. If the recipient of this gift box, doesn’t intend to keep it, I think I’ll ask for the ribbon back…

Red or green for Christmas?  I can’t decide. I like both.

The next hop along the way is my friend Rochelle who has created gorgeous projects that I know will WOW you! Click here or on the badge below to take you to her blog.

Artisan Design Team – Christmastime Is Here Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the latest Stampin’ Up! 2019 Artisan Design Blog Hop.  The team have been busy creating more projects for you with the gorgeous products from the Christmastime Is Here Suite.

This exclusive, limited-time collection of festive, floral coordinating products has everything you need to share love, joy, and creativity this holiday season.

For out last hop I created the following projects that showcased the pretty Christmastime Is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper.  All of the roses were either fussy cut or die cut from the papers.

This time around I wanted to show you how I’ve used the rose stamp from the Christmas Rose Stamp Set.  You probably all know how much I love a flower stamp and fussy cutting…..so this stamp set is perfect for me.

I also wanted to show you the versatility of this suite, so in addition to a festive card, I created a card that can be given for any occasion.

The first card I created is a Christmas card.  I added a strip of this rich paper from Christmastime Is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I then cut a Whisper White Cardstock lattice die cut under my floral image.  The flower image from the Christmas Rose Stamp Set was stamped in Black Memento Ink and coloured with the following Blends – Cherry Cobbler, Mint Macaron, Ivory and Shaded Spruce. I then used my Roses Dies to cut the image. As much as I love fussy cutting, I also love the ease of cutting this image with a die. To finish off my card, I added some Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and bunched up some Gold 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon to place under the sentiment.

For my second card, I knew I wanted to make a card for any occasion. I embossed the splatters from Artisan Textures Stamp Set with Gold Embossing Powder for the background.  For something different, I stamped two images and fussy cut them down until I had just two roses.  I coloured them with my Cherry Cobbler Blends making sure I had a deeper colour around the petal lines to give the roses definition. The leaves for these roses have been fussy cut from one of the papers from the Christmastime Is Here Specialty DSP.  I also added a strip of DSP that was cut off at some point and was sitting on my desk.  I always keep these strips so I can use them on other projects. The small piece of Gold Foil you can see was cut with one of the label dies in the Roses Dies pack. To let you in on a secret, this is also an off-cut from another project but you can’t tell it’s not the whole label.  To make this card an any occasion card, I cut down the sentiment that I used on the festive card.

This suite has been available to demonstrators to buy for the last couple of weeks and are now available for everyone to purchase! These products are only available while stocks last, so make sure you get your order in soon so you don’t miss out on these bee-oot-iful products!

The next Artisan on our hop is my fab friend Rochelle Blok.  Click here to take you to her blog or on the button below.

Artisan Team Blog Hop – Frosted Foliage

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and the newest blog hop the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team are sharing.  This month we are featuring projects created from the 2019 Holiday Catalogue.  The bundle I’m featuring is the Frosted Foliage Bundle.  This bundle consists of the Frosted Foliage Stamp Set and the Frosted Frames Dies.

Each of the design team have created projects using various products from the Holiday Catalogue and for a twist, we are creating projects outside of the suite colours. For this twist, I’ve used papers from the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper pack.  I also added some Pool Party Cardstock for a pop of colour behind the berry branches.

The berry branch images, from the Frosted Foliage Stamp Set, have been stamped with Black Memento Ink (my go-to ink for everything).  My Cherry Cobbler Blends gave the berries a very quick colour but the fussy cutting maybe wasn’t so quick….. The first card has a Pool Party leaf and Whisper White snowflake cut with my Frosted Frames Dies. You can never have enough bling on any project, so I added a rhinestone to each card from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones pack.

The tags I’ve created have been cut with my Frosted Frames Dies – a really quick way of creating some interesting tags that you can’t find in a shop. I added the background stamp of snowflakes in Pool Party Ink to the tags and stamped the sentiment in Black Memento Ink over the top.  For some prettiness, I added some Rococo Rose 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon tied together with 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim.  Pool Party snowflakes with Noble Peacock Rhinestones in the centre finished off the right amount of embellishments I needed for them.

The next hop along the way is my talented friend Rochelle Blok.  Click here to take you to her blog or on the button below.  You’re going to love what she’s created!

Artisan Design Team – Christmastime is Here Demo Facing Blog Hop

Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog and a special Stampin’ Up! 2019 Artisan Blog Hop we have for you.

Christmas Is Coming Early This Year!

We hope you’re ready to make this holiday season magical, because the Christmastime Is Here Suite is, well . . . here! This exclusive, limited-time collection of festive, floral coordinating products has everything you and your customers need to share love, joy, and creativity this holiday season.

All demonstrators have exclusive, early access to pre-ordering these products from 1st October (that’s today!).  I’m thinking it’s a great time to sign up to be a demonstrator just so you can get your hands on these pretties asap!

Take a look at all the amazing products available in this suite!

I can’t even really explain to you how happy I was when I saw the products in this suite. A Christmas Rose!!! What could be better than that? The image in the Christmas Rose Stamp Set can be used for the festive season, but I can also see it used for a birthday card.  I played around with fussy cutting on the weekend and have some non-festive cards using the rose on my blog soon. LOVE me some versatile stamps!

My projects have been created by cutting the rose images from the gorgeous papers in the Christmastime Is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. I’m always hesitant to cut into my designer series papers, but these papers are made for it – if I can do it, you can too.  The dies from the Roses Dies match the larger flowery image I’ve used on my card. This image from the DSP is coloured perfectly and great for your customers to show them that if they’re not fussy cutters, the die can do all the work for them.

For the background, I’ve added a piece of the gorgeous DSP and added a diecut made of Whisper White Cardstock under my image.  I layered a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock under the sentiment to tie in a neutral colour.  Because I couldn’t resist using the ribbon, I added a loop of Gold 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon to the side of my card.  The Gold Glitter Enamel Dots that come in this suite are right up my alley and, as always, I’ve added three of them around my card.

Gold Mini Pizza Boxes are a perfect gift to give that special someone.  For the inside I created 6 little note/gift cards as part of the gift. The top of the pizza box has been decorated with a square of DSP, a Whisper White Cardstock framelit cutout, a sentiment from Christmas Rose Stamp Set, a strip of Sahara Sand Cardstock and the gorgeous Gold 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon.  I then fussy cut some flowers from the DSP pack and layered them under the sentiment.

The gift cards have all been decorated with the same details but a scaled down version of the box.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the projects I’ve created using this suite. Don’t forget to put in your order soon so you can be ready to churn out those Christmas projects

Preorder limits are as follows:

  • Limit one per demonstrator for non-consumable items (e.g., Christmas Rose Stamp Set, Charming Rose Bracelet, etc.).
  • Limit two per demonstrator for consumable items (e.g., Gold 1/4″ (6.4 mm) Shimmer Ribbon, Gold Glitter Enamel Dots, and Christmastime Is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper).

The next Artisan Team member on our hop is the talented, and super creative, team member Rochelle Blok.  Click here to take you her blog and to continue on the hop.
