The Card Concept #2

Hey Everyone

I’m back with my second card today – this time I’m back with my card for The Card Concept where I am creating cards in the Shabby/Vintage style.  We were so thrilled that we had over 100 entries – thanks to everyone for making it an amazing first challenge!

Our challenge this week is to create a card using texture.  We’ve also provided the pic below that you can take inspiration from.

I don’t actually have any housey type images that I love, so my inspiration came from the colours that I got from the pic – Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Cajun Craze.  My texture came in the form of burlap that I felt resembled the texture of the shingled roof.  To add extra texture I embossed my hand-cut heart.  I’ve left my card sentiment-less as I didn’t think it actually needed one – it’s also nice to have some blank cards up my sleeve.  As I’m typing this post, I just realised I created a card with no stamping – that doesn’t happen very often in my world!  Here’s what I created:

Head over to the challenge and check out the gorgeous inspiration from the Design Team.  While you’re there, why don’t you link up a card?

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. It is unusual for you not to do any stamping but I think all the different elements that you have created nobody would miss the stamping. I like how you have coloured the flower and you always add plenty of layers ,looks fantastic.

  2. Adding texture to a card – hmmm, that must have been hard for you – NOT! Your cards are always so wonderfully textured and this is another perfect example. Fantastic!

  3. I love all the edge distressing you did on your card Narelle…this is really stunning and I don’t use that word often! I love the use of the burlap…unraveled just the perfect amount.

  4. STUNNING CREATION!!! Your distressed edges are so perfectly…distressed! I’m also really admiring your beautiful bow – I can’t tie a nice bow to save my soul! The layered hearts and the sweet little rose are gorgeous! The burlap…oh yeah…wow!

  5. You definitely have a way with vintage style, and this one is no exception! I would have never noticed that there is no stamping on the card had you not said anything-your card has exactly what it needs-nothing more nothing less!
