Freshly Made Sketches #134

Hey Everyone

Our sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches is my good stamping friend from New Zealand – Karren Johnson.  Karren creates the most beautiful cards and is so talented when it comes to techniques – techniques scare the life out of me, but Karren just aces them!  Pop by her blog and check out her creations.

I’m absolutely loving my new Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Stack called Fresh Prints mostly because it showcases one of my favourite colours – Coastal Cabana.  Here’s my card:

Viva la Verve Sketch, Shabby Tea Room #215 & The Friday Mashup #157

Hey Everyone

I’ve had such a productive card making weekend but haven’t had a chance to post anything until now as my son took over my laptop for pretty much the whole weekend.  I wrestled it from him tonight so I could get my posts done.

The challenges I’m entering my card into are Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge, The Shabby Tea Room Pastel Goodness Challenge and The Friday Mashup’s Challenge Seeing Dots Challenge.

I feel like I’m using the same stamps all the time so I reached for a little flower from Stampin’ Up!s Simple Stems that I haven’t used before now.  The leaves are made with my Stampin’ Up! Little Leaves Die and Crisp Cantaloupe DSP.  The dotted DSP in the background is from Fresh Prints Designer Series Stack and my sentiment is from Petite Pairs.  Here’s my card:

Just Add Ink #209

Hey Everyone

A new Friday means a new challenge at Just Add Ink.  This week Delys has given us the challenge to:

Just Add Layers

Layers?  I don’t think Delys could’ve picked a challenge that was more suited to me than this one.  My OCD mind thinks layers every time I sit down to create!  I’ve gone with a circle card with lotsa layers and lotsa distressing and of course it’s got flowers and a scrunchy bow.

The Card Concept #6 & Cardabilities #95

Hey Everyone

I’m back with another card and I’ve just realised I’ve used the same flowers and leaves I used on my previous card.  The cards were made on separate days and I’ve only just realised the posts would go live within a couple of hours of each other!

This week at The Card Concept we have a pretty inspiration pic with a birthday theme for you to create your cards.  I was initially going to re-create the whole wedding cake with flowers to a tee, but decided in the end to leave the cake off and just use the colours from the flowers instead.  I also thought the background in the pic looked a bit woodgrain-ish so I’ve used my new Stampin’ Up! Woodgrain stamp to the background.  The layout for my card is for this weeks sketch challenge at Cardabilities.  I’m also entering my card into Seize The Birthday’s challenge.

Freshly Made Sketches #128

Hey Everyone

This week at Freshly Made Sketches the fabulously talented and sweet Rita Wright is our sketch hostess.  Here’s her very versatile sketch:

FMS128sketch

Last week was my chance to make another man card for stash, this week I’ve reverted back to a feminine florally card.  The colour scheme for my card came from some off-cuts that I had sitting on my desk that I played around with until I was happy.  I’m pretty pleased with myself as I’ve managed to combine more than two colours!  The flowers I’ve used are from a Stampin’ Up! set called Simple Stems and the leaves I’ve used (like always) are from Summer Silhouettes.

The Card Concept #5

Hey Everyone

We had a huge 172 entries for our last challenge at The Card Concept!  We’re thrilled that so many crafty people want to play along with our challenge.  This fortnight we have a colour challenge for you.

CC5pic

I have a story about this card.  This is my second card for the challenge as when I first looked at the inspiration picture I had it in my head that the colours were black, green & white.  It was only when I went to load my original card to our gallery did I realise the colours were supposed to be espresso, green & white.  Note to self – take more notice of the challenge pic BEFORE I make my card! Not entirely sure how I feel about this card, but it was all I could come up with at the last minute. I’ve stamped Stampin’ Up!s Dictionary in the background, but it doesn’t really show up really well in the photo.  The two-toned flowers I’ve stamped are from Stampin’ Up!s Simple Stems and the leaves are my favourite from Summer Silhouettes.

Freshly Made Sketches #122

Hey Everyone

It’s Wednesday so that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

FMS122sketch

Don’t you just love this classic sketch by the talented Cindy Hall?  I’ve used some of my new Stampin’ Up! goodies – some new designer series paper called Retro Fresh and some new stamp sets called Simple Stems and Peaceful Petals.  I found this card really hard to photograph and it still seems washed out, but it was the best of about 20 photos!  I’m not sure if you can tell from the photo but I have two layers to each flower because I like to give my cards some dimension and the leaves are lightly coloured with Coastal Cabana ink.
